Spiderman 3 Trailer up

Check the IMDB I posted above. Topher is officially listed as Brock/ Venom.

Which doesn't necessarily mean anything, though. Posters to IMDB are, by and large, the people who make those listings. IIRC, Topher has been listed as being Brock for some time now, before it was ever confirmed that there would even be a Venom in the movie.

By the same token, Noel Clarke (Mickey) has been listed as being in all of the last several episodes of Doctor Who, despite the fact that the last time he appeared onscreen was at least 3 episodes ago. (Just to show an example of how IMDB listings aren't necessarily accurate.)

Sign me up as someone who dislikes too many villains in a superhero movie. For instance, as the Batman movies got more and more craptacular (Die, Joel Schumaker, dieeeee!) they got more and more villains. The fact that we've got multiple baddies in this one doesn't bode as well as I'd like.

But I trust Sam Raimi, and I love most of the actors. I'm looking forward to this big-time.

Probably the Black Cat, who can be seen in the trailer (at least Felicia Hardy is there; the platinum blonde dancing with Peter.)

When I watched the trailer, I thought the girl dancing with peter was Qwen Stacey. But I could be wrong.

I'm thinking, unlike Shumaker's musical superhero movie's, that they've tied most of this together with a decent, if not good plot, that directly involves Harry/ Green Goblin. He probably has a hand in Sandman's creation, if not Spidey's "symbiote" thing. It'll be interesting to see of course, but that is my guesswork for now.

Tim Burton's Batman 1: Batman, Joker. Good Film.
The sequel: Batman, Catwoman, Penguin. Decent.
Schumaker/Kilmer Batman: Batman, Robin, Riddler, Two-face. Pretty bad.
Schumaker/Clooney Batman: Batman, Robin, Batgirl, Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, Bane. Terrible!

There's only so much story that you can cram into one movie. More characters means less development time for each one, which results in less compelling storytelling. This is one of the things that the Spider-Man films have gotten very, very right in the first two movies... although it's interesting listening to the commentary track for Spider-Man 2 where they mention that the script originally had the Black Cat in there, on top of everything else.

Spider-Man, Harry/Goblin, Sandman, the black costume, the inter-personal relationships... we'll see. I am somewhat concerned, but I remain catiously optimistic.

I trust the film, mostly because you can have multiple baddies without "featuring" them. Look at Batman Begins, which had Ras and Sandman, and kept a fairly tight story.

I like the idea of one begetting the other, and wouldn't be suprised if Venom is only in it towards the very end, with hintings much like the coming of the second Green Goblin in S2.

That being said, while I love comic book movies, I've never read may comic books, so I wouldn't know much of what happened in the comic with most of these characters (I tend to find out after seeing the movie from more informed friends), so I'm usually more tolerant of continuity issues.

Awesome!

And I agree with P'Cat, too many villians is a bad idea, but Sam Raimi knows what he's doing, IMO. He won't overdo the villiany, but whoever takes over the Spider-Man franchise will likely put too many villian in Spider-Man 4.

I'm still waiting and hoping to see the Lizard (since Doc Connors has featured prominently in the earlier films, so we know the setup is there!)

I´m thinking that after spidey gets the black suit there´ll be the need to show how badass it is. The only way is making spiderman beat one or two supervillians´ asses, wich could "explain" the presence of several bad guys. They need not to be main characters.
