Spiderman

I have no problem with the casting of Kingpin.

Maybe Kingpin might make a cameo crossover in Spider-Man sequel.

BTW, I apologize for being a latecomer, but I finally got to watch Spider-Man. Tobey is perfect for the role as Peter Parker and Spidey. I don't know about it being a love story, or the fact this all started "with a girl." But it has plenty of actions to hold me over.

Tobey's OK, but the role that was cast the best in the movie was without a doubt JJJ. I think they used some magic device to actually pull him from the pages of the comic-book.

I finally saw the movie last night and I loved it. Easily the best comic book adaptation so far! X-Men 2 has a lot to live up too, I think.

Somebody earlier (Jeremy, I think) said that the reason Peter refused MJ's offer at the nd was to save her from the heartacheof him getting killed. Saying that he wasn't resistant to damage...

I disagree, in the course of the movie he was knocked through several walls and took a grenade blast to the face!. Even his method of movement would dislocate joints and shatter ankles on somebody not resistant to damage. :-)

I believe that he refused MJ's offer more to protect her.

Was it my imagination or did she finally make the connection between Parker and Spidey right at the end... She doesn't recognise his voice, but did recognise the way he kissed! :D

Not sure about it being a purely family film though, it was very violent. It got a 12 rating over here in the UK, but I am not sure that it wasn't a borderline 15 rating really...

Well, I'd say Spidey's resilient but not actually resistant to damage. In the old Marvel game, he had a pretty high Endurance score and lots of Health, but no Body Armor or anything of the sort.

I vaguely remember reading somewhere that, at least in the comic continuity, all of Parker's joints have super-lubrication, making him essentially triple-jointed and thus able to bend and flips and twist like he does.

Then again, it is fantasy... ;)

I am just stoked that they are finally making films that show "true" superheroics... Being smashed through a wall, stopping a cablecar falling with one hand, taking a grenade blast to the face and only being stunned...

:D :D :D

And the way superheroes move, like in the Spider-Man movie, most of it courtesy of CG special effect.

Heh. Wouldn't mind seeing Spidey mix up with Blade. :D
