Spiked Chain Rules?

The most abuse I've seen come from the spiked chain involved a couple of homebrewed feats (one let you trade an aoo for a 5' step, one let you take a 5' step with an enemy as they did it). Yikes! That character was outrageous. (He's Sith, who is in my old story hour, which is linked in my sig if anyone's interested- though my new one promises to be better as it developes, since the party's higher level and doing really out of hand things.)

Not all weapons work the same unfortuneately. Bolas deal 1d4 damage as a touch attack, and if it hits, it automatically trips the opponent. This weapon's almost as good as the Spiked Chain.

I would have to agree that Bolas rock.

Have your SC wielding sonofagun throw the bolas at some NPC combatant his first, or surprise, round. Then wade in with the SC making trip attacks versus every other NPC combatant while the other grunt-thumper hacks the poor souls to pieces while they are prone. And, continue having the SC wielding sonofagun keep making trip attacks while the rest of the party mops up the floor with those guys. Cheesy and simple, yet efective.

Crap. You're gonna screw me up with just such a character in my next game, aren't you? :D

Well that depends on how many on-the-spot variant rules you implement and how many off-the-cuff house rulings you make, now doesn't it? :D

Now, what is this suposed to mean?

I don't apply any on-the-spot variant rules, or implement any off-the-cuff rulings.

Please, give me some examples because I really don't know what you are talking about.
