[Spoiler] What happened to your Meepo?

[ S P O I L E R -- S P A C E ]

I have to ask this, because I need to know what others did with the lovable Meepo from the module "The Sunless Citadel".

MY players:
- convinced him to "join" the PCs by tempting him with leadership of the kobold tribe.
- tied him up and made him guide the PCs to Goblintown, where they proceeded to create the first major goblin holocaust... and the first kobold holocaust shortly thereafter.
- nearly used him to set off a trap they knew was there... but that was for a gag, really.
- strapped him to various pillars when they needed to go into heavy combat.
- used him as bait to draw out the wyrmling white dragon.
- eventually untied him, gave him a bow, and told him to cover them while they waded into melee. They later gave him a morningstar and some leather armour, too.

Now Meepo has agreed to follow the "good" heroes lead and start to mend his evil ways... he is slowly drifting to lawful neutral. I may even end up giving him a character class if they decide to keep him after the module...

So, I ask... what happened to YOUR Meepo?

Lousy little blighter gibbered at us for a few seconds in a language we didn't understand (which, obviously, meant he was a commie spy).

When he tried to run, we figured he was going to warn the others so we tried to knee-cap him with a .45 pistol. Sadly, the shooter aimed a little high and nailed him with two in the chest.

Well, my characters spared Meepo's life after first encountering him, and he began following them around. At first, he was mostly pestering them, but then I used him to help the group out a little when they were in really bad shape after a botched combat encounter (Hey, first level is lethal!). I then decided to make Meepo a first level cleric "of the White Dragon" and had him use some divine magic for the benefit of the group. The group cleric saw this and decided that Meepo needed counseling in the ways of divine magic, and promptly made Meepo his apprentice (the group had by now advanced to the lofty 2nd level!).

After this Meepo stayed with the group for several sessions, provding lots of funny role-playing moments as the group cleric tried to indoctrinate his reluctant apprentice in the "one, true divine theology". I also had him become so impressed by the group's sorcerer, that he tried to become apprenticed to that character also. This proved to be equally amusing as Meepo started using some 0-level arcane magic, and the sorcerer got upset and made Meepo promise never to use arcane magic with asking permission.

So, Meepo started of as something of a comic relief thing, but turned into a stalwart NPC, who helped the group a lot while providing plenty of good role-playing moments. In the end, he rode off into the sunset with our sorcerer when that character's player had to leave due to getting sent to the UK by his employer during the weeks.

Cheers,
Meadred

The PCs got Meepo to accompany them, but then one of them (new player - didn't last long) decided it would be funny to check out a door they'd just managed to unlock, by picking up Meepo and hurling him through it. Meepo promptly went into hysterics and refused to accompany them any further. So they made him wait for them and continued on. A couple rooms down the line, they ran into some kobolds and routed them, with the surviving kobolds fleeing in two directions. They followed one group and the other fled towards and into the room where Meepo was waiting for the PCs. Alas, poor Meepo!

Yep, that's pretty much what happened.

In Sunless, I was Spakk Bonewrencher, half-orc barbarian/fighter devotee of Gruumsh. Meepo ticked me off, so I killed him as an example to the other kobolds.

When I played through Sunless Citadel, I was playing a dragon-disciple bound Dwarven Fighter/Sorceror. This was back in 3e, so this was way more desirable (I was looking forward to being an 8-foot dwarf!). When we found Meepo, I was able to converse with him in Draconic and convince him of my "religious compatability". He then offered to guide us through the citadel, as long as we kept the queen off of his back. Later, when we ran into the white wyrmling, my character didn't want to kill it, as he wanted to study it in combat, and learn more about the true dragons from first-hand experience. Meepo got his old job of dragon-handler back.

Obviously, we wound up keeping the dragon around, as well. I became obsessed with training the little bugger out of his psychotic tendencies ("nurture, not nature"). It was really funny every time it tried to breathe frost, to show its power, I had already cast Endure Elements vs. cold. Remember back in 3e, this lasted 24 hours, and gave you [energy] resistance 5. Since the little dragon only did 1d6 with its breath weapon, I was virtually immune! :D We kept sending Meepo out to catch raccoons and hedgehogs and stuff for the dragon to freeze, so it could keep eating, and it became very attached to my character. It still kept threatening Meepo, though. I imagine he wouldn't have lasted too much longer.

Pity we never finished that campaign...

Meeepo was played as a manic depressive nocturnal Bard.
We kept him with us as a guide, and our monk taught him the Zen of sweeping - obviously the SC needed cleaning.

Meepo would keep waking us up during our rest periods, and wanting to do something. Then grumbling sleeply at us when we tried to go adventuring. We ended up having to tie him up (wrapped in blankets) and gag him to get a decent amount of rest.

I told the others the only way we were taking him out of the citadel was if some freak accident hacked off my ears.

After our thief died he was replaced by a 1/2 orc barbie with a 20 str. This made me and our halfling thief/cleric completely unnessary in many combats (after running out of spells) so we acted as backupsingers for meepos bard songs.

I missed the last 2 sessions of the game - so Im not clear on his evenutal fate.

We negotiated an alliance with the kobolds against the goblins, and Meepo was made our guide while we expored. Being honorable sorts we made sure to keep him to the rear and out of combat. Eventually our party and the kobolds took out the goblin chief in a well executed pincer attack. We liked Meepo enough that we used nonlethal attacks to take down the dragon (in a rather comical scene, since nonlethal attacks ain't easy for low level PCs) and helped him get his old job back.

Meepo came off as an unholy hybrid of Whiny Anakin Skywalker and Jar-Jar Binks, so all of the PC groups that encountered him hacked him to pieces as soon as possible- save one, who threw him to the dragon as the way to subdue the dragon long enough to get it back.

Yeah, I had the morally-upstanding PCs. (Not.)
