[Spoiler] "Who killed Wormtongue?"

As with all rumors, take this for what it's worth. I last heard that the extended version of RoTK will include the "scouring of the shire", but that Saruman will not be there. If PJ decided to kill him off at Isengard, then that would make sense.

Of course, if PJ did so, that's just another reason to be irritated over unnecessary plot changes in the movies...

PJ has said time and time again that the Scouring has NOT been filmed at ALL. So...no, that won't be happening.

However, it WOULD make sense for Legolas to kill Grima, since there aren't any Hobbits around to mob him. I, too, have seen the picture of Saruman on the spike...it was a long while ago, too.

You have a better script that can entertain people NOT into the heavy material that is LotR? If so, sell it...scripts can catch a good price if well done. :)

According to imdb.com, there were five different death scenes scripted and shot for Saruman, and even Christopher Lee didn't know which one was going to be used. So the iron spike of Isengard might not be it, especially if pictures have leaked in the Internet.

Those could be some good extras for the DVD's:
'How do you want Saruman to die tody?' :p

Apparently in Empire magazine they stated that filming of the Scouring was currently taking place - this is second hand info, however.

Ick, I hope not. After rereading the Scouring, I think it would be horrible as an ending for the movie.
Of course, it'd be on DVD, so I could just scene skip...

Isn't that why PJ left out the Scouring of the Shire?
