[spoilers] Angel starts tonight, Now with commentary!

I love both shows. I tape Angel and watch alias with my wife.

I found Lorne very annoying this episode (except his haullucination which was hillarious). I have to agree that Conner isn't all that interesting.

And exact opposite couple of Gunn and Fred (is that right?) is getting annoying as well. Okay, they have different personalities. Please stop pummeling me with it!

What I'm really interested in is what W&H will do this season. And that chair freaked me out too....equally as unexpected as Wesley with a slave. Wesley is a great character. There's a lot of depth to him. You can really see he wants to help, but wants to keep his distance. It will be interesting to see how the relationship progresses.

Gunn and Fred aren't that much opposite - she looked like she enjoyed TASERing Conner a little TOO much, don't you think? :)

Angel's hallucinations tell me two things: 1) He still wants Conner and Wesley in his life, and 2) He accepts that he may never have them there. In his dream, HE is the odd man out, not either of them.

"I'll take away your bucket." ****, I love that line! Wes got competent back in Season Two - he got SCARY in Season Four.

What will the Angel Investigations team's interaction with him be from this point? Will they try to strike up a relationship with Wes? Will they continue to shaft him and give him no time of day at all? Out of all the characters, Wesley has gotten the worst rap. In my opinion, Angel owes him BIG TIME. (I still believe, and cannot be convinced otherwise, that Angel would have devoured Conner had Wes not taken him.)

Can't wait until next episode!

Connor doesn't seem too popular, which is interesting, seeing as his role has a lot of similarities to Wesley's, who everyone seems to like more now.

Connor and Wesley are the two that we no longer have a good reading on. We understand where they're coming from, but we can't tell what they're going to do next, the same way we can predict what Angel, Gunn, Cordy or the others would do. Either could be easily lost to "the dark side."

Maybe it's partially because we have not been able to get to know Connor very well (it's only been a few episodes with him so far). Wesley definitely wasn't that interesting in the beginning. And maybe people think they already have a good read on Connor. But give Joss a chance to develop his character a little. Connor adds some very interesting dynamics to the show.

enjoyed the show but...

Man Fred is a biiiitttccchhhh?!?!? WTF?? She was like all nice at first (weird but nice) and last season she really REALLY mean to Wes and then to Connor with the taser. Of all the cast her character I like the least. Oh well.

I still like her, but she has an mean streak or something in her.

I like Fred to. This entire epsidose it feels like Joss has given some LIFE back to the group. Certainly reminsce of 1st and 2nd seasons, which I LIKED! I just hope they do more with W&H and also have Cordy GET a better do! That ugly thing has GOT to go.

I wish I hadn't missed Alias, as I DO Like this show and Angel, if for different reasons.

What? Connor betrayed them. Then played them for fools and patsies for months. Angel is her hero, for darned good reason. You expect her to react by giving him brownies and saying "I forgive you"?

I was talking with my girlfriend last night about the show, saying that Connor wasn't really my favorite because he's just not a badass like the other characters.

She looked at me like I was smoking the crackpipe and asked if I was talking about the same Connor who locked his father in an undersea coffin and then lied to everyone about it and killed anyone who might lead dad's friends to his coffin. Right, I said -- good point.

Thing is:
-Wesley keeps a prisoner bound and gagged in his closet while he has sex with a villain; when she tries to attack him, he threatens to take away her bucket.
-Fred hands someone a baloney sandwich, and then when they're eating it, tasers them over and over. Then she ties them up and tasers them some more.
-Lila sits all calm and collected while her boss chews her out, then pulls out her Palm Pilot and activates the insanely scary Scissors Chair on said boss.

Connor looks almost wimpy in compariosn.

The only sense in which Fred is a bitch is the same sense in which Wesley is a bastard, in which Lila is a bitch. More accurately, this show is a kettle full of badasses.

I love it!

Not quite the same sense, if you believe that motivation is a factor...

Fred had just been betrayed, and acted in anger. Wesley is more calculating, but only against people who have really, really hurt him and those he cared for in the past. While what they do is pretty hefty, there's a pretty solid justification behind their acts.

Lila, on the other hand, kills while seeking personal power. Killing for self-aggrandizement isn't exactly moral high ground.

Connor's pretty badass, too. For example, the jump-out-of-nowhere-catch-the-axe-throw-it-back-and-decapitate-the-vamp trick was rather impressive. It's the knack of projecting his badassness that he needs to develop some more. Not quite up to his dad's league.

But the demons in a hell dimension (a dimension feared by other demons) fear Connor*. He's gotta have something going.

*(Well, Connor and Holtz together, anyways. But still.)

(FWIW, I plan on watching Alias and taping Angel. Both good shows, IMO.)
