two more suggestions:

1) Check out the Athasian druid at www.athas.org for an example of a druid with spontaneous casting and a limited number of spells known (like a sorc).

I took a look at the Athasian druid. It's not too bad, but the changes they've made besides making it a spontaneous caster aren't to my personal taste, even if I were playing Dark Sun (which was my favorite 2e setting). I might crib the Spells Known table though.

2) The geomancer PrC (from MotW) has limited spontaneous casting and is druid-oriented; possibly right up your alley?

I unfortunately don't have MotW yet, though I hope too soon. From a DM perspective, it should be a while before I have to concern myself with PrCs anyway, since the PCs in my upcoming game are starting at 1st level.
