I just read that The Rock has signed to play the lead in a movie based off the Spy Hunter video game from the 80's. This outta be good.

I don't know why, but I have a hard time envisioning a guy the size of The Rock behind the wheel of a sports car. Maybe he'll play that truck it drives out of?

The Rock's actually a decent genre movie actor, so he'll be about as good at this sort of thing as Vin Diesel was in xXx.

It depends on how much you like watching Professional Wrestlers drive cars for two hours. It could be real exciting or it could be a "video game" movie. Can they come up with 2 hours worth of oil slicks, smoke screens and machine gun headlights?

"In the movie version, the erstwhile Scorpion King will play an ex-fighter pilot who battles numerous spies and assassins with the aid of a Bond-esque car called the G-6155 Interceptor.

The studio, which snapped up the rights to Spy Hunter from Midway last year, is eager to put the project into overdrive and is targeting it for a summer 2005 release.


Universal has dispatched scribes Michael Brandt and Derek Haas, who cowrote the studio's high-octane car-themed summer action sequel 2 Fast 2 Furious, to their word processors to translate the game into a viable flick.


No director is attached yet. The feature, which could become a franchise for Universal, is being produced by Chuck Gordon and Adrian Askarieh along with Original Films partners Neal Moritz and Marty Adestein."

I don't think it will be a great movie, but as far as mindless action goes it could be fun.

This will probably be the pettiest complaint about this movie, but have any of these people ever seen a fighter pilot? Or a cockpit, for that matter? Fighter pilots I've seen are tough as nails, to be sure, but what they aren't is massive. Those tight cockpits would never hold someone as big as the Rock.

Now, if they said he was, himself, a jet fighter, I'd believe that...
