SPYCRAFT: The greatest RPG ever made! The best d20 game ever!

The Mastermind section gives precise instructions on creating perfectly matched villains, henchmen, and minions tailored to your PCs. Wish the DMG had had this in it. Same goes for the XP award table, which provides exact guidelines for granting XP bonuses to good players for RPing and adding to the fun of the game. These are things that should have been in the DMG, but it took AEG to "do it up right." I really love this book... it's got practically everything in it under one set of covers for GMs and players alike! Any other supplements (of which they promise many this year), are just icing on the cake.

Really? That's the one "innovation" I wasn't too sure about. It seems like a lot of number crunching just to get the opposition, which the basic table of challenges (replicated from the DMG) seems to do just fine. Further, it only tells you about the opposition, not the situations, which bear as much or more on the challenge of the scenario, espeicially in a more investagative setup like Spycraft.

Heh... actually, in the Control chapter where it discusses variants, it recommends doing just that for supernatural games... give the players the impression that the world operates just as they know it, but little by little, the horrible truth presents itself.

After I read it all in one compulsive, page turning sitting, I jumped up and danced around the house in my underwear singing, "Start spreading the news!" (from Sinatra's "New York, New York"). Finally I calmed down enough to get dressed, nuke up some chicken fried rice, warm up the computer and dash off this unbridled, bubbly, "thumbs up" enthusiasm. :D

So you liked it, huh? :)

I'm not sure what I would pay to see more: Your dramatic new reinterpretation of Matthew Broderick in "Risky Business," or the book itself. :D

Seriously, if the book is that good, I may well have to give it a try. My problem currently is that I have more campaigns and characters than days to play them!!!

Thanks for the emphatic review. Have you posted this in the d20 reviews section of the web site? I'm sure the guys at AEG would give a lot for this kind of publicity!
