SPYCRAFT: The greatest RPG ever made! The best d20 game ever!

FREE PDF SPYCRAFT ADVENTURE: BACK TO BASICS
by Patrick Kapera, co-creator of the new Spycraft RPG from AEG

SYNOPSIS: The agents are assigned to investigate stolen rocket fuel from a remote Spanish facility. The heist is suspicious due to it coinciding with the nearness of the launch of the International Space Station and a Global Satellite Link... Could some terrorist group or rogue nation be plotting to destroy the Space Station with a rocket of their own? And to what nefarious end?

As usual, the Agency will deny any involvement if you are caught.

Now I'm scared... :)
Next Juin, I'm going to a small scientific symposium in Saint Malo :D

They were there to keep tab on a scientific symposium!

Watch your tongue when you are discussing with colleagues in the smoking area or near the free food. It might be bugged...

BTW: Juin in english is June. ;)

Taking 20 is the equivalent of rolling until they get a 20. Why wouldn't they get the critical? Are the players going to just roll until they get a 20 instead? Isn't that the point of Take 20?

Not quite. It's the equivalent of taking a lot of time to do it right without hurrying. It's not hard to imagine how this might keep you from the inspiration and adrenaline required to do something incredibly well. Or to bungle the job, for that matter.

And if you want to roll until you get a critical success, you are just as likely to get a critical failure instead. The odds are 50/50 that you'll roll a 1 before a 20 and not many GC will resist spending an action die to make a fool of a PC who is repeatedly making the same roll.

I'm a poor Spanish boy living in France and trying to write in English... It's amazing I arrive to type even a word right :) :D

Congratulations! You have just described the rationale for taking 10.

Geoff has it right. The whole point of taking 20 is to do away with the rigmarole of rolling repeatedly until you succeed at a task (assuming it's possible). If you take the time to do it right, that should mean you do it RIGHT.

I really like Spycraft, AEG has done a wonderful job since the Rokugan book IMO. I'm going to be starting a series really soon too :)

Thank you Patrick and Kevin and the rest of the team (including playtesters) for a great game. I've been pimping the book at the store hoping to increase sales ;)

Just out of curiousity - and just in case I missed it from earlier - what kind of material does Spycraft have concerning martial arts?

Well, not much apart for 20 feats specifically dedicated to martial arts.

Oh, and that's not even including all the basic combat feat that can be useful for a martial artist such as Surge of Speed.

Excellent! I just got Spycraft Lite, and the feats contained therein are enough to get me excited about the martial-arts-movie madness that can be done at even a low level. Heck, even the Lite version is enough to get me excited. I *definitely* have to expend some of my refund on this book now.
