Brom also managed to snare the services of one of the most highly respected miniature painters out there as well - Jennifer Haley - she's got a bit of a cult following in the fantasy miniature painting circles.

Sandra Garrity's well known from her Reaper sculpts; I don't know much about the other people on the Dark Age team. But I love Brom's stuff, and these other talents make this a company to keep an eye on.

Some very impressive stuff - I am going to check all this out. Thanks for the link mate! :)

So I'll probably end up illustrating the first section myself (for the pdf) and then we can see how that goes.

That might not be such a bad thing - from what I've seen of your work it's as good as most professional artists out there! (U_K is a graphic designer by training, an author by inclination) :)

I appreciate the love - but lets not get carried away here! :D

Theres a bit of a gulf between capable and professional!

Epic spells ignore SR?

Well, didn't I just ask if the DC increase in Epic Spell was high if you constructed them to bypass SR? (and you answered no)

You pointed cleverly that the drow SR that increase every level broke UK CR system because at roughly similar CR under UK system, you could have a spellcaster several level under the level of a drow, and that he would be unable to pass through the drow SR.

But I suppose that Epic Caster use Epic Spell to fight each others, and the Spell DC increase (the increase in difficulty to cast the spell) to bypass SR is perhaps low enough (curently I have only my 3 core books with me) to allow casters to ignore SR in a spellfight.

Honestly, I'm not sure how epic spells ignoring SR works... I'd have to look it up. All I'm saying is that it's an issue - even if you can, you'd only have 2-3 shots at taking down your enemy, who may well be immune to even your epic spells.

On SR being a problem

Bang You're Dead
Necromancy[Death]
Spellcraft DC: 93
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 300 ft.
Targets: 1 creature
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: Fortitude partial
Spell Resistance: Yes
Development: 837,000 gp; 17 days; 33,480 XP. Seed: Slay affect 160 HD (DC 25+8); factor: 1 action casting time +20 DC +10 save DC (+20 DC) +10 caster level (+20 DC);

The target is dead if it fail a saving thrown vs DC30+ability bonus, otherwise it takes 3d6+20 damages.
Your caster level check get a +10 bonus

wizard level 40
spellcraft 43 rank
ability bonus +10 (with a +6 to spellcasting ability item, and ability increase every 4 levels)
spellcraft boosting item +30
spellcraft +83, you can take 10 on your spellcraft check and voilà!
without epic item you can kill your drow opponent, or many other creatures up to fort save +30, SR 60, and 160 HD and all that at level 40, you could do that at level 34 also, but you'll need epic items.

Also a wizard doesn't need to affect directly an enemy with SR, otherwise wizards couldn't ever defeat a golem.

Also there is seed that ignore SR:

Animate
Animate Dead
Conjure
Contact
Dispel
Foresee
Reflect
Reveal
Summon

Animate, Animate Dead, Summon and Conjure are especially usefull vs adversary with magic immunity, or with protection from the spell you memorized.

PS: yes, that's a big bump and a late reply, so what?:p
