Right the Ki just provides a way around DR.

As for where to post it- Id say here- so others can see it too :)

Hey Vig,
What is up with the whole stunning fist being Fort save 10 + level +modifier - their level.

The system basically starts to break down the higher the opponents level. For example I'll use three situations:

MAM 4 - stunning fist vs fighter 2
Fort save 14 = (10+2(wis)+2(level difference).

MAM 8 - stunning fist vs fighter 6
Fort save 14 = (10+2(wis)+2(level difference).

MAM 12 - stunning fist vs fighter 10
Fort save 14 = (10+2(wis)+2(level difference).

For my example I'm saying that the stats all stay the same as a fighter can just as easily raise his Con as the MAM raises his Wis.

We can see that the saving throw remains the same but in reality it become easier for the fighter to make.

Situation 1: If the fighter has no Con he has to roll 11

Situation 2: If the fighter has no Con he has to roll 9

Situation 3: If the fighter has no Con he has to roll 7

Is this a flaw?
Am I reading something wrong?

Well- it might be a flaw, but it isnt an accident! :)

My idea was that the attack should maintain about the same "lethality" if you used it on someone of your level.

So, although you fail the save less and less, the consequences are worse at higher level, where your opponent will have more lethal attacks, and just plain more attacks.

So, it IS intentional- whether you agree with my reasoning is a whole nother ballgame as they say. :)

But they are only stunned until the start of your next round so they cannot be the subject of a CDG well not at least but that MAM right? I see that wouldn't stop others from doing it. Does a stunned person fall prone? There are a lot of attacks that do more damage to a prone opponent. Further can you give a table of how the damage dice increase?

d4 -> d6
d6 -> d8
d8 -> d10
d10 -> d12
d12 -> d20
Is this how D20 modern does it?

Actually I suppose I should have spelled it out- in my home campaign I cap die increases at d12- but the method you suggest works too :)

In my experience its pretty HARD to get above d12, unless you reallly work on it.

Plus, there are plenty of balancing factors to make that not so desirable- like counterpunching.
