First Post
Someone finally made a copy of the SRD that is fully hyperlinked, bookmarked, etc. I was wondering if anyone has picked this up yet or not and what they thought of it. Could be interesting, its suppose to have additional OGC in it from other ePublishers.

Haven't bought it, but they mentioned that they will be doing the Modern SRD too. I wanted to point out to anyone interested that I've already compiled the Modern SRD into PDF format and am distributing it for free here:

From personal experience, I think $7 is overcharging for the amount of work required to compile the documents, even if they've done a much better job than I did with the Modern SRD.

Maybe I'll do the 3e revised SRD for free too. I'd been planning on it in the past, but we'll see how much time I have when it comes out.

EDIT: Mine has linked table of contents and extensive bookmarks as well.

Errr, I think someone else is doing this idea. It appears Expeditious Retreat (Magical Medieval Society people) are also doing the same thing, their product is called Internet Arcana. I think I got Annadobritt's(Freelance Cartography) and Expeditious Retreat's mixed up. I think the one posted up above is just the SRD. ExRet is the one compiling a lot of OGC from ePublishers into one document.

Someone has bought Annadobritt's PDF and has a review of it.

Edit: A link to Internet Arcana is posted below

Strange. It works sometimes and then doesn't work at other times. I think the server must be having problems at the moment. If it doesn't clear up soon does anyone have a place to put the file so people can download? It's 1.7 MB.

I got my copy DLed just fine. Thanks kenjib! :)

I also picked up Anna's reformatted SRD. But as to the price of the Anna version of the SRD, I think $7.00 is more than reasonable for a reformatted version of the SRD which is all in one document (1020 pages!), linked from the table of contents and well-bookmarked. Being able to go through nearly all SRD material (including Psionics but not yet d20 Modern) in a PDF format is incredibly useful.

Did I need something like this? Yes.

Can I do it myself in a hour? Absolutely not.

Do I think I deserve more than $7.00 an hour? No doubt about that.

It's an excellent purchase that I will never regret. :)

Yes, we're putting out Internet Arcana... (Corrected link here. :)). Internet Arcana is just the spells and items from the SRD + OGC material from e-publishers. It's massivly hyperlinked (example. 1st level bard spells>click on spell name>go to spell description>under spell description is list of items made by that spell> click on items> go to item description) and fully bookmarked. So far we have just over 3,500 hyperlinks and anchors.

As to Anna's PDF, i think $7 is underpriced for the amount of work required to format all those crappy rtf files into something useable. If I would have done it, I would have charged $10.

If you create original content, you need to write the stuff, format it, and possible work with obtaining artwork and doing art layout. This is more work than just format existing content.

Of course in the end, if it's worth it for you then it's worth paying money for it. I also don't mean to discredit anyone's work, as I'm sure the author did a better job than I did. Personally though, I think such things should be free gifts to the community, but that could just be the anti-establishment side of me speaking. I like the free exchange of ideas.

Now something like Internet Arcana, which involves collecting material from numerous sources (all of which you would have bought too) I can understand better as a for-sale product.

EDIT: And if anyone wants to improve on the formatting, I left the document editable and also provided the MS Word source.
