Standing Up From Prone

I guess by rule the is NO Opportunity Attack from Prone to Standing, since there is no movement OUT of a square, we have House Ruled that standing DOES draw OA's.

We've found this makes attacks that cause the Prone condition in melee much more exciting. Otherwise they're kinda lame.

Then woe unto you if you allow the Polearm Momentum feat in your game from Martial Powers. I can think of a combination that, with your houserule, would result in foes never getting back up once they are knocked down.

My group changed things a little, making it so you do provoke an OA for getting up, but may shift while prone... (which I think is illegal by the official rules)

Works for us.

You'd have to wait until 21st level to get Knockback Swing (which is what I assume you're talking about), but yeah, it would mean that someone next to a Fighter will never get up again because they'll get knocked prone on the OA whether it hits or misses. If they also go with Polearm Master they'll automatically push 2 without having to get extra feats (like Spear Push) and the Fighter gets a Daily stance that allows him to make OA's within the weapon's reach (which could easily be 3 squares with the Eternal Defender ED) as long as the stance is active. Pretty nasty if you ask me.

Although, now that I think of it, they could get up by burning their Standard or spending an Action Point, since it's only one OA per opponent's turn. It's still ridiculously powerful though.

We seem to change the rule on this every other session. Currently we play that standing from prone using a move action provokes opportunity attack from adjacent enemy. We allow stand from prone using a standard action ("defensive stand") that does not provoke opportunity attacks. Not sure if this will stand the test of time.
