Spoilers Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

Struggling through Voyager. It's frustrating because it had potential that it couldn't reach. I am enjoying Jeri Ryan's portrayal of Seven, however.
I bounced off Voyager really hard. Mostly a great cast and characters, but to my mind they squandered the majority of the potential of the premise in the pilot.

A half-Starfleet crew forced to work with a half-Maquis crew while stranded on the far side of the galaxy is an amazing premise with tons of great story potential. And it all evaporated by the end of the pilot. The constant resets rubbed me the wrong way. And it's really weird how all the supposedly less-advanced aliens were constantly managing to somehow travel faster than Voyager and get ahead of them so they could meet up again.

Tim Russ as Tuvok was brilliant bust kinda wasted. He's incredibly funny. The EMH is great. Loved Torres...but that's a hell of a problematic character.

At least Ron Moore went on to reboot Battlestar Galactica in disgust.

S2E1 - Kira doesn’t want Quark in her quarters and yet as soon as he shows her the earring, she rushes out, leaving him alone … in her quarters!

S2E2 - Kira’s been removed from DS9! The actor playing Bareil is rather wooden. Now they're having vision sex?! o_O

Ugh, Vedek Winn is such a horrible person!

Harry - Captain, we're caught in a very dangerous situation, far from any support, and could be badly damaged if we try to escape the obvious way.

Janeway - Ramming speed, Mr. Paris.

And how many shuttlecrafts and crew members has Voyager lost? I guess they can make new shuttlecrafts but maybe they should be recruiting aliens along the way? Of course, the aliens are almost all hostile or annoying.
I think in most cases recruiting crew locally would be immoral for a ship in Voyager's situation. They are working on getting home, so there's no way for them to return their new crew members to their own homes. Not saying there aren't exceptions (like with Neelix and Kes at first, and later with Seven of Nine), but large-scale recruitment drives would be a hard sell.
