Star Wars Saga/D&D 5th Hybrid [OOC/Rolls]

In the old WEG system you added your Sense to your Attacks with lightsaber and your Control to the lightsaber damage. If you were Dark Vader, ROTJ Luke, it meant who ever hit first won :)

In the early D20 Star Wars they had Wounds and Vitality points and there whomever got the first Critical Hit won :)

Saga also had Damage Reduction which Lightsabers ignored but I did not really want to add the feature back in. I was thinking that lightsabers might also be able to ignore Reflex Armor Points. It did not have this feature in Saga though, which I thought was always weird that it basically ignores all Damage Reduction points but not Armor Class Points. But I think that might make lightsaber too good.

I don't know if it is so much the to-hit chance as the damage. At 12th Level, a Jedi Knight can finally get their lightsaber's rolled damage up to the same value as a blaster rifle, by burning a talent. I guess I don't understand why a lightsaber doesn't just start out at 3dX damage from the get go. Entry-level characters get that with blaster rifles or carbines if they choose, so it doesn't seem like the damage is excessive, especially considering the fact that lightsabers are melee weapons.

I'd just keep an eye on it for now. Trogdor would probably have the greatest input, but he hasn't been on, so...
@Sezarious The Gand is still unconscious. I guess I could slap a medpac on him to wake him up.

ETA: Looking in some older threads where people have made the same observation, I think the reason why it appears less impressive is because the Saga damage calcs were different. Ranged weapons apparently did XDX damage + 1/2 Class Level, but no extra damage from high DEX. Lightsabers were also apparently STR based and you could get double STR mod for wielding them two-handed. So, I don't know, I'm not sure they're equivalent at this point with the changes we have made. Just need to keep an eye on it, I think.

Sounds good forged. I think we're gonna need him.

I will edit my post so Jihahna requests the Gand is woken up.

Greenkarl, given Jihahna's and Cals study of the worm carapace before (albiet, brief study), is it possible we can potentially find a way to make our energy weapons bypass its resistance? Can Jihahna attempt to jury rig each to fire at a lower frequency or something?

Hmmm I would say maybe but not a good chance. You could make an Intelligence (Life Science) or (Supernatural) check... but the TN is really high. At least a 25 as you guys did not really have lots of time to study it and work out anything with it.

Otherwise I would say... you could 'guess' that the mouths of the creatures not appear to have the scales on their insides and the scales are what absorbed the energy...

If you want to jury-rig the blasters to fire at different frequency you could but you would just be guessing what might work best against the hides

OK, the Gand should be waking up, regaining 1 HP per round for 7 rounds.

Meta: Not sure which way to go here. Flee into the tunnels or attempt to reopen the dais and flee down there.

RE: Medpacs: I think you need to change the terminology to Dying rather than Incapacitated. I don't think the terms are congruent from Saga to 5E. A stunned character is, for instance, considered incapacitated in 5E and I don't see any reason a medpac wouldn't work on them. I think it really only makes sense for Dying characters since they are the only ones who need to stabilize. So, it basically means the only thing you can do with a medpac for someone who is dying is to stabilize them, once stabilized another application would heal them, albeit at the reduced rate.
