*Calmly shifts over to this crowd, moving slowly, not drawing any attention until he is standing in the circle, as if he's always been there*

So...I was wondering if y'all had room for one more player? I don't know how many you have playing right now, so if you're full, that's cool. I've been wanting to run my own Star Wars game with my usual group, but I don't really know where to start, so I thought I'd try to play a bit, see what others are doing.

I'd just need a basic run down of what's going on, hopefully without having to read all 65 pages, though I can look up the gist. i wouldn't even mind having to start at level 1 and work my way up. Y'all are on what, level 6? A level 1 (assuming he'd survive) should level up pretty quickly from there.

So...thoughts?

Probably... the fellow playing Reks has disappeared for months. They are in the middle of a big final battle (for the end of the first arc of the adventure). If you wanted to join after that I would be cool with that. The characters are all 6th level right now but I might be raising them to 7th afterward. For now if you want make a 6th level character...

The basic story is that the heroes were all 'hired' or assigned by the Republic Survey corp to investigate the problems on the Mid-Rim World of Dathomir. After they arrived they meet a mercenary who joined them (Jihnaha). They stopped some mercenaries from murdering some of the natives who most people believed were simply wild beasts. They then rushed into a big attack my giant creepy spiders attacking a mine. They stopped it by collapsing the mine and saved most of the miners. Czerka corp was overall not happy (it was a very profitable mine) but the miners loved them (also one of the mercs, Targo, who this Gand saved, joined their group). Back at the space port they bonded a bunch with the mercs and stopped a pirate attack on the spaceport (they were trying to steal a bunch of transports that were full of mineral wealth). For their good deeds they were awarded the pirates space transport (the Outlaw Gambit and droid C4). Later then there was an powerful earthquake at the miners outpost town and when they got there it was destroyed and a huge pale armor worm eating some of the miners. It left and they followed the tunnel it created (5-6m wide) and found some miners whom had been captured by some deranged aliens. There was also a crystal that talked to the force users in the group that held the essence of an evil pre-sith/jedi force users. The deranged aliens worshiped the big worms and hated the sun. So wandering about they discovered a way into an ancient area and beat a bunch of Sith Troopers and war droids that tired to kill them. Afterwards they meet a Kwa force ghost. He explained that the kwi, the natives of this planet, had in ancient days created the Infinity Gates, a force powers gateway that allowed them to travel the stars without starships. The Kwa were peaceful and found another force using people in their travels. They tried to teach them to peace of the Way (what they called the Force) but these aliens were to violent and they conquered the formed the Infinity Empire. It seemed there were now Sith on the planet looking for this gate. The gateway was powered by the living stars but the Sith planned to use it to destabilize suns in the Republic to destroy them. The ghost could not allows this so he told the heroes they had to stop them or he was destroy the planet. Entering into the Star Gate chamber they had a short fight with some guardians and are at present fighting the Sith as they try to activate the Infinity Gate..

Wow, that sounds wonderful. This is pre Knights of the Old Republic, correct?

To be honest, what I would LIKE to play is a Grey Jedi, so someone who skirts the line between light and dark. Someone who's philosophy is that of the Grey Jedi code:

There is Emotion, yet peace.
There is Serenity, yet Passion.
There is Chaos, yet Harmony.
There is no Life, without Death.
I serve the Balance, and through It
The Force Shall Guide Me.

I did find this conversion of Star Wars Saga to 5e: http://www.docfoc.com/star-wars-dd-5th-edition-conversion. I was planning on using it in my own games. As for character creation, it seems to hold very close to 5e, with archetypes and all. (And they have Force Adept as a base class, with Grey being one of the archetypes.) It would probably be too late in your game to switch game mechanics, though.

With the current character creation choices, what sort of build would you suggest for a Grey Jedi? Jedi Knight, then Force Adept as a Prestige class?

I don't know what Reks was doing, but I was thinking someone who is philosophically grey. Who makes a conscious choice to be in the middle. Who uses the dark side, but doesn't succumb to it. That's why I like the Grey archetype for the Adept class in the conversion I posted. Once a rest, for one minute, he can use dark side talents and powers without adding dark side points.

Don't have the specifics yet, but working with what's on page one of this thread, I'm probably going to go with a Male Miralukan Jedi till level 5, then one level of Force Adept. I'm thinking he was trained as a Jedi and then left the order, not convinced they were right. He hasn't fallen to the dark side, and wont, but feels the dark side isn't something to be feared.

Basically, he's not afraid to do what needs to be done. The ends don't always justify the means, but they can. Darkness cannot be allowed to rule, but it has a place. Sometimes the only way to build is to first destroy. Yadda yadda.

He's a philosopher at heart. Just, one that believes the sword is just as mighty as the pen. And for some reason, lately, I've been all about the blind characters. And Miraluka are just awesome.

Oooh, are you a Revanite [MENTION=6855204]tglassy[/MENTION]?

Also, [MENTION=6801242]GreenKarl[/MENTION], here is Jihahna's attempted Wisdom roll. _: 1D20+1 = [10]+1 = 11
I'm imagining a force equivalent of the darkness spell :)

Also, everyone, do you guys mind if I were to use some of the content from 'A gathering Darkness' at present for my animation ad diploma? I will of course cite your usernames. At the moment, I'm trying to learn cinema 4d and need to learn Maya and want to aim to produce an opening credits 'trailer' at the end of the year.

From my research, I understand I can feature Star Wars stuff as a part of my portfolio STRICTLY as long as I don't profit from it in any way.

I was hoping to do up an opening credits 'trailer' by the end of the year...

I could do original content, but that's boring to me compared to this....

Hmm. I wasnt familiar with Revanites until you mentioned it, but it does seem appropriate. Is this set before or after KOTOR 1? If before, then he just happened to find the same philosophy. If after, then he very well might be a Revanite, at least, before the Revanites went fanatical.
