Star Wars Saga/D&D 5th Hybrid [OOC/Rolls]

The campaign is taking place a few months after The Sacking of Coruscant and the signing of the Treaty of Coruscant which split the Republic in half, between themselves and the Sith Empire. This is about 3-4,000 years before the Movies but still in the Republic days. The Infinity Empire existed some 20,000 years before this game's timeline :)

I am not 100% on grey knights... you can play it as a philosophy if you want to but the Game Mechanics is another thing. Having and using Dark Side powers gets you closer to the Dark Side and the only way to lose those points is by spending Force Points. It can be done but you would have to be very sparing in your usage AND not be doing evil deeds at the same time (i.e. using Force Grip to chock someone to torture them for info, etc.)

I did find this conversion of Star Wars Saga to 5e: http://www.docfoc.com/star-wars-dd-5th-edition-conversion. I was planning on using it in my own games. As for character creation, it seems to hold very close to 5e, with archetypes and all. (And they have Force Adept as a base class, with Grey being one of the archetypes.) It would probably be too late in your game to switch game mechanics, though.

With the current character creation choices, what sort of build would you suggest for a Grey Jedi? Jedi Knight, then Force Adept as a Prestige class?

Well the whole point of this game is to play-test out my version of a hybrid game NOT a 5th ed. conversion, so yea sorry I am NOT using those rules :) I will look them over later and think about it a bit but it is not something I am a super fan of :) maybe

With the current system I would think using both Jedi Knight and Force Adept would work as it would give you a mix of options.

Also, everyone, do you guys mind if I were to use some of the content from 'A gathering Darkness' at present for my animation ad diploma? I will of course cite your usernames. At the moment, I'm trying to learn cinema 4d and need to learn Maya and want to aim to produce an opening credits 'trailer' at the end of the year.

From my research, I understand I can feature Star Wars stuff as a part of my portfolio STRICTLY as long as I don't profit from it in any way.

I was hoping to do up an opening credits 'trailer' by the end of the year...

I could do original content, but that's boring to me compared to this....

I'm fine with it ;)

Hmm. I wasnt familiar with Revanites until you mentioned it, but it does seem appropriate. Is this set before or after KOTOR 1? If before, then he just happened to find the same philosophy. If after, then he very well might be a Revanite, at least, before the Revanites went fanatical.

This game is set about 150-200 after the events of the KOTOR I-III games. It in the online video game setting (Star Wars: The Old Republic) actually.

It was set basically from the original Kotor 1 and 2. The order grew over the century or 2 (i'd have to check) between those games and swtor. Sith and Jedi end up uniting and the Revanites become a pretty big threat, not just combat-wise, but philosophically, because their ideas had the tendency to convert.

I'll get his character written up tonight. Revanite may work pretty well. I did love Revan. I'd need to decide between staring as a sith or a Jedi. If he started as a sith, and came at least halfway to the light, that might cause some yummy tension between him and the others. If he started as a Jedi, he might be known by the other Jedi, as one who walked away from the Order. Also yummy tension. I'll have to think about it. I'm open for suggestions, though.

Well so long as in the end he "wants to be something of a hero" its good. I prefer games were everyone is on one side or the other. Tension good, in-party fighting bad :)

Well right. Grey Jedi fight the dark side and work for the greater good. They see emotion as a powerful tool...but strive to control them, not to be dominated by them or to suppress them. They teach to walk the balance, and don't fear the dark side, because they feel they understand the dark side.

So he's a good guy. No killing innocents, trying to save the world, that sort of thing.

But he won't always spare an enemy in a fight just because they surrender. It would depend on the circumstances.

And I kind of like him eventually becoming a Force Disciple. The character I'm envisioning is very philosophical in nature.

I'm not the type to disrupt a party, so no worries there. He's not going to just kill someone who got in his way, especially not a "good" person. That would be to head further down the dark side, which would disrupt the balance

In the end, he cares about balance. .
