[Star Wars] SECR Preview #5 is up

That's an intentional design decision of D&D: iterative attacks requiere that attack outstrip AC, so that they even have a point. AC in D&D is not about avoiding been hurt, it's about avoiding been hurt too much.

In games with more even defense/attack progressions, iteratives loose their punch very quickly, becoming nigh useless.

How would implementing the Defence bonus from UA on top of armour and using the damage bonus of half your CL (from Saga) balance the loss of iterative attacks?

I pretty much hate everything I've read about the Saga edition.

I started recapping what I didn't like but it was going to be too long and I don't care enough to take the time. I really think they are missing the boat with this redesign. If they wanted to make such drastic changes to the system, they should have just scrapped it and started over rather than hacking apart d20. It's borrowing rules from d20, Mutants & Masterminds, Spycraft eta and slapping them together with scotch tape and glue.

Ah, the bitterness is strong in this one.

Really? Scotch tape and glue? Huh. I didn't know forum members that weren't the designers had seen the book.
What can you tell us about the book, since you must have held it in your hands and read it cover to cover to come to this assessment?

Well, that's what happens with most things in life (art, film, games, music etc), it evolves and changes and steals from what went before.

Emphasis mine.

I've read the same things as everyone else. That doesn't mean I can't form an opinion based on what I've thus far.

Oh. My mistake. Thought you'd seen an advance copy and had formed your opinion based upon that, as opposed to the teasers we've all seen. :heh:

No problem.

Perhaps I'll go back and actually add some worthwhile analysis rather than just throwing spewing negative comments. My initial impression is that they were so concerned with speeding up play that they over-simplified a lot of things and left very little room for variation in gameplay.
