That explains it. I usually don't pay attention during the Asgard episodes. Little grey freaks.

It ewas mentioned in one of the Stargate episodes a few weeks past when they were talking about it being built

Vat exactly are you implying...?
It wasn't an Asgard episode, just a briefing from some other soldier to O'Neill about the new Daedalus. Asgard hyperdrive, better weapons, better shielding, etc.

I'm expecting the Daedalus to show up and save Shepherd at the last moment.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks they ought to to send the Daedalus to take the Genai gate at the first opportunity, preferably accompanied by a warning that if they keep screwing with Earth/Atlantis, they might find themselves being bombarded by nukes more powerful than anything they can build (in other words, naquata enhanced bombs like in this episode). Unfortunately, their ultimate cooperation in this episode makes that far less likely. I say unfortunately because the writers have succeeded in making me hate the Genai far more than the Wraith.

I suspect the Marine commander is here to stay, but I wish he wasn't. I'd rather keep Shepherd around. I think it was rather cheesy to resort to having him know whats-his-name that Shepherd coup-de-graced.

I loved the battle!

now, I'm just curious as to how they're gonna get their hides out of this ... there's lotsa captured GI's (Lt Ford) ... where's Tayla?

... and how the heck are they gonna deal with a galaxy nearly controlled by the wraith (who seem to be pretty hungry and can't eat as much as they like).

I have to wait until July to see all of this???

1) ZPM - wasn't the whole reason the SG-1 team went after it because of the message from Atlantis a couple of episodes ago?
2) Why does some miracle have to save Sheperd? I personally think he's going to be captured
3) To paraphrase Die Hard "We're going to need some more Colonel guys."

(BTW, my understanding is they are going to be adding some more main characters next season, for both series, which will be chain-of-command who's-running-the-project type changes. I don't like the current marine colonel. His voice sounded dubbed.)

I don't find it all that surprising. The Marine Corps isn't that large of a force, and there are not a whole lot of colonels. It isn't that big of a stretch to think that two of them know each other.

On the other hand, the colonel could not have been more obviously a "wrong-headed commanding officer" unless that had been the character's actual name. I think he's a dead man walking, but I think that will be true of any officers senior to Sheperd that show up in Atlantis.

I liked the Col. ... he was kinda pig-headed, but he did give in to reason and eventually listened to those with experience.

If he survives I bet he forgives Shepard
