It's a tough time to introduce a lot of new characters but I'm not sure on the timing of the cancelation and when these final episodes were written/revised/produced.

Well, history could repeat itself- not likely, but possible- and like SG-1 before it, SG:U could be picked up by another channel.

Not a bad episode, especially considering it's part 1 of a 2+ part storyline.

I thought it sucked.

Which is a shame because I've considered it to have been going from strength to strength until this episode. It's almost as if the decision to axe the show came just before this episode was being written and they decided to throw in the towel and give up on making an effort.

Given SyFy policies on their shows, another channel picking it is hihgly unlikely.

One little thing bothered the geek in me about this episode. One of the drone ships fired a shot that destroyed that world's stargate.

One hit and it permanently destroyed the gate. Not just damaged it or disrupted it's connection, it physically disintegrated a big chunk of it.

I thought it was well established that Stargates are virtually indestructable. In SG-1 they used Naquadah-enhanced nuclear weapons at one point to try to blow up a gate, and it failed. A nuclear weapon augmented with alien technology couldn't blow up a gate, but a shot from drone starfighters (that when those shots hit the dirt are doing about as much damage as maybe a hand grenade or mortar round) breaks a stargate?

The entire episode was lazy and ill-conceived. It chopped so fast from one problem to the next with continuously weak justifications and solutions (like the stargate destruction) that I was left sitting there feeling cheated.

Honestly, I think this is going to be par for the course for the rest of the show. From what I understand, they announced that this show was being cut mid-production of this season. Doesn't give much incentive to do anything other than pump out content and finish contracts.

This was the first ep I've watched since the Lucian alliance cliff hanger last season show, so it looked ok to me, except the aforementioned blown up gate. I'd like to know more about the drone alien race, but I suppose that's what Hulu is for. If that even works anymore. Too much school to care about other stuff :)
