I assume spoilers for the episode itself after it being aired are okay, right?

So they have control over the ship now. Well, at least Rush has some. It was about time.

So has Destiny reached its destination (now? So humans get aboard conveniently at the last moment before it gets there?), or just one stop along its path?

My guess is that they arrive at a Dyson Sphere. Okay, I don't really believe that, but I figure it might be some kind of constructed object if there is no star system. Or could it be those mysterious planetary-system creating aliens?

So Rush is back to his old tricks, you know hiding things, lying. This shouldn't cause any more problems. You know, maybe if he told the others that he has control of Destiny, they'd be able to actually to function as a crew, because Rush knows damn well he can't do it on his own.

They probably should have spent a little more time on resolving the issues with the LA.

Thinking that the "person" Rush is seeing is the auto-pilot AND it is seeing Rush as the captain of the ship. Also, thinking that Rush is not too far off on the Commander, he is on a slippery slope of crazy and this .. that close to going over, not that I blame him. Good thing they have a backup now that can unite the LA and the crew.

It's episodes like this that really make me wish they'd kill off Young, Rush, and Wray. Between the three of them (and Telford) they managed to do everything possible to piss off the LA people. At least Wray tried to make things good.

(Mini-Rant)
At this point in time, I really don't get how people are following either Rush or Young. Both of them show such monumental lapses in judgment and stubbornness that I'm surprised someone hasn't pulled a LA move and shot them in the head.

I'm not certain that the episode was trying to make this point, but there were some mighty strong parallels between how the LA is purported to act (per Red's stories) and how the leaders of Destiny are acting (see: Riley's code). In essence, the ship has become a warlord state. I really hope that this gets addressed.

(Rant Over)

I would have cared more about Riley if they had showed some more character building scenes. You know, like the ones in the Kino episodes where they build on the idea that Eli and Riley are friends. That said, the actor did a great job with the whole death thing.

Why mention the active volcanoes on the planet if they weren't going to use them? I thought for sure the explosion would activate one. I guess to show that Young would leave the non-useful LA on a hellhole like they were going to do last episode?

So Rush is officially Baltar now? I don't get why we're supposed to be on his side at all at this point.

Overall a very blah episode. Hopefully next week it picks up. Also, hopefully the ratings pick up, or SGU won't be getting a third season.

Why mention the active volcanoes on the planet if they weren't going to use them?

I think the active volcanoes were to explain how the gate got buried, and to sorta rub it in Rush's face that the gate might not be recoverable (what if it got buried in solidified lava instead of loose rock?).

I must admit, I have enjoyed both episodes so far this season. Far more than I did a lot of Season 1. The characters are setup now, so you dont have to worry about background stories as much. Although I must agree with earlier sentiment. If the ratings dont improve, then this will probably be the last season.

I think the manifestations of Rush's wife and the first guy who sat in the chair are a part of Rush's own psychosis, they are aspects of Rush's own psyche. Notice how they always play devil's advocate, they never actually give him new info or insight on how to run the ship.

Your second point is what makes Rush's character interesting. He's an arrogant douchebag who has endangered the crew from day one with his decisions . . . but he's often dead on right about things.

That is what scare me about Rush.

Stubborn to the core and get it done attitude rubs me alll the wrong way.

But heck...like you say, he gets it right.

The guy who sat in the chair did give him a bit of useful info, though whether that was new info to Rush or if he was just dredging it up from his subconscious if up for debate.

If they're part of his psyche, why do they only appear in the control room?
