Starmantle Cloak and Natural Atacks

How does the Starmantle Cloak from Boox of Exalted Deeds work vs Natural attacks?
And vs Monks Unarmed Attacks?

I think it's waaaay underpriced if it nullifies both of them...

It depend on how one interprets the word "weapon" in the items entry, if you view weapon as meaning an object used to injure, defeat, or destroy (as I believe is probably intended) then I do not think it would protect against Natural Attacks or Unarmed Strikes but if you view weapon as meaning the thing upon which the damage from one's attacks is based then you could consider Natural Attacks or Unarmed Strikes to be weapons and then the Starmantle Cloak would protect against them unless they were magical.

Actually it would destroy them unless they were magical. It would still protect against them if they were magical.

I'd think the only balanced way to look at it is to consider natural weapons either

a) unaffected by Starmantle or
b) magical weapons regardless

I'd opt for (a) in my home campaign and (b) over at Exodus. (different ideas of what is balanced and what isn't).

No matter how you rule it though, be sure to disallow anyone benefitting from both it and Evasion, or you'll find yourself with people that need to roll a 1 in order to take any damage from weapons. :O

What I mean is that I think that the ability was meant only to work with Manufactured Weapons like the Vow of Peace.

So I opt to say that Natural Weapons aren't unaffected...
And of course no Evasion!!!!

Anyway the Mantle is great since it will be a gift from a God to a 16th/17th level character with CON 3 and 30 Hp...

Thanks for the help :D
