Starting new Brindlewood Bay campaign

I'll be running a new Brindlewood Bay campaign this weekend. I have 3 players and they made their Murder Mavens last week. We have:
Opal: elderly Goth girl with Dale Cooper move and painting hobby. She's a little bit Addams Family.

Violet: cookbook author with Columbo move and the baking hobby. She's kinda warm and cozy with an unexpectedly sharp mind.

Ethel: speedwalking bird watcher with the B.A. Baracus move. She's a bit of a hippy with a lot of New Age beliefs, and a touch goofy

I'm going to start off with All Hallow's Scream from the core book. Really looking forward to it.

Last night's session went well. As I mentioned, I started off the campaign with All Hallow's Scream from the mysteries in the core book.

The players had a lot of fun interacting with the quirky characters at the Hallowe'en party and exploring the shlocky mansion of retired B movie writer/producer and party host, Abner Vidal. He gets murdered, of course, and the mavens got right to snooping. It certainly had that old tv/cozy mystery vibe, with a sprinkling of Brindlewood Bay supernatural weirdness.

After gathering clues, the theorize roll was made with a complication. Abner's wife, Coco, was the murderer, but I had Abner's mistress try and shoot Coco. Violet intervened and it looked like she'd be shot, but Ethel has the Baracus move (A Team), hadn't used it yet, so no one got hurt, except a hapless film award. Murder Mavens each start with one move inspired by old action and detective tv shows. Nobody ever actually dies in A Team despite all the explosions, thus the move. (it can only be used 1/mystery)

Ethel was upset because she liked Coco and had spent time comforting her. Violet was glad to get home. She stumbled across a void clue which rattled her and there had been sex toys in the master bedroom. Opal was very unphased by the weirdness and the scandal!

Session took about 2 hours and 40 minutes. Lots of fun.
