Starting Occupations and Feat Pre-req's

Just a quick question. To take a bonus feat from a starting occupation that has a prerequisite, do you have to have that prerequisite? i.e. Military allows Combat Martial Arts as a bonus feat. Can I take that feat as anyone besides the Strong Hero (who is the only one to get a +1 to his BAB at level 1)?

Yes. While not explicitly stated in d20 Modern in the Occupation section, it is implied in the Feat chapter - that chapter starts out listing every instance when you get to select feats including from the starting occupation, and the prerequisites section of the feat chapter immediately following says you have to have the prerequisites in order to select or use a feat.

Removing the BAB requirement for Combat Martial Arts is the most logical step.

Technically, you need to meet the feat's prereqs. Alternately, you can take it but it won't come into play until you meet the prereq (for CMA, BAB +1 or higher -- i.e., at 2nd level for non-Strong Hero classes).
