Might be the "basket-hilted backsword" in Bastion Press' "Arms & Armor."

20 gp, Dmg: 1d6 (blade) or 1d4 (basket), crit. 18-20/x2, Wt. 6 lb., Type S (blade) or B (basket), Reach 5 ft.

Nope. I found it earlier. I was thinking of the cutlass from the FRCS.

Hey, thanks man. A player of mine wanted to know what the stats were on a knife and I didn't have a clue. Is the crit range just a 20?

Except that sabers in FR have slightly longer blades to allow deeper cuts, and you get a +1 bonus to attack rolls while attacking from a horse.

The cutlass is what has the basket hilt and grants a +2 bonus to resist being disarmed. Oh, and the cutlass is curved.

My bad, they changed terminology on me. You are correct, cutlass is the "broadsword" from 2e.

Long swords are the archetypical broadswords from the middle ages. Basically a long slashing blade (no basket hilt). If you want to make them do 2d4 damage, I guess you can go right ahead, but just be aware that noone will use long swords anymore because broadswords are better in every way.

Like the rules say, weapons that are similar to an exisiting weapon are those weapons as far as stats. For example, a katana is a bastard sword (MW, but still a bastard sword).
Both weapons are very different, but overall the same - large slashing swords that are hard to use one handed without training.
