PHB pg 142

Supernatural Abilities: Using a supernatural ability (such as a cleric’s turn or rebuke undead ability) is usually a standard action (unless defined otherwise by the ability’s description). Its use cannot be disrupted, does not require concentration, and does not provoke attacks of opportunity.

I don't think the text specifies that they are not standard actions.

"Such as" are merely examples and not an all inclusive list since this is from the PHB.

It is defined otherwise...

A spellthief that hits an opponent with a successful sneak attack can choose to forgo dealing 1d6 points of sneak attack damage and instead...

Besides, if activating the ability was a standard action, how would it then work at all? You cannot sneak attack someone (except in some crazy circumstances like when using a quickened damaging spell), if you need the standard action to activate the ability.
