Still holding out for a new Baldur's Gate game...

I know that there is virtually no chance of it, but I would love to see a new BG game. BG is what got me back into D+D after a 15 year hiatus. It's story-telling, NPC interactions, group formulations, maps, combat, background music...EVERYTHING rocked! Although the 'Sword Coast' expansion from BG1 wasn't too great, BG2 and BG ToB were superb. Heck, leveling up/inventory was one of the best parts of the game and is still better than any of the actual RPG digital game aides out there.
If they came out with a VERY good BG for 4e, I might actually become a convert. As it is I will hold onto 3.5 for as long as my books retain their ink (especially after they trashed the FR campaign setting for 4e).

A New Baulder's Gate game (written in any edition rules) would be cool -- it was a solid computer game product.

Admitedly, you're more likley to see it in 4ed rule set rather than 3.X simply because that is what WotC will want to push these days ...

As part of a completely random conversation with a friend, he randomly mentioned that Bioware is making a new game _similar_ to Baulder's Gate ... "Dragon Age: Origins" http://dragonage.bioware.com/ or Goggle Dragon Age for various fan collections of released info... one publicity quote on one the ign.com site for this does say "it's a spiritual successor to the baulder's gate series but not the same high fantasy setting or d&d mechanics" (or something like that)

After they release the trailer, I guess we'll have a better idea of how much it is like Baulder's Gate or not...

Closest fits are probably the 2nd NWN expansion, Drakensang (german game, but could be translated to english when it's a success here) and Dragon Age (BioWare's next fantasy RPG).

Bye
Thanee

I seem to remember hearing about a fan-created BG mod that was virtually an entire new game. It's been a while since I've been in the BG look though. Everyone once in a while I get the urge to break them out again though.

Meh. I loved BG2, but after the disappointment that was ToB, I can take or leave the idea of another game. Though it's been long enough now that a new game using a different D&D ruleset might work really well.
