Still no updated FORSAKER?!

I am highly surprised WotC still hasn't updated this prestige class, the Forsaker, to 3.5E

Any particular reason? I had to do my own conversion and this is what I came up with:

Damage Reduction: This remains the same number, however, it becomes damage reduction X/-, where X is the number provided depending on your Forsaker level. For example, a 2nd-level Forsaker would have DR 3/-, and a 4th-level would have DR 5/- and so on. Also, I allowed it to stack with any other damage reduction x/- (such as a barbarian's DR).

Natural Weapons: I have updated this in my games to allow Forsakers to bypass any supernatural damage reduction, but not natural ones. In other words, they can byass DR/magic, evil, good, lawful, chaotic. They can bypass epic once they reach 11th-level Forsaker. (which can only happen when they are epic-level). However, they still need a weapon of the appropriate material to bypass DR/silver, adamantine, and cold iron.

And that's pretty much it. I was thinking of also pumping their skill points to 4 instead of 2 (since they have a lot of class skills) but I decided not to, for now.

What do you guys thinks and what have you done to update the Forsaker for your games? :D

It could have something to do with the amount of hate and controversy the class caused the first time around. I'd love to do a Vow of Poverty Forsaker though :D
 

It was a terrible class. "Hi, I'm going to join your party! While I'm here, you can't use teleport or phantom steed to get the whole party anywhere, and we'll have to rest for days because I'm allergic to cure spells."

PS: They're up with the Frenzied Berserker for the "not a good party mate" award.
 

Cure spells did work on them, just not as well. And the need for travel fast it really campaign dependant and not that big of deal. They can make a fine party mate but like all options they are not for everyone and every group. But nifft makes good points on why they need revised.

When flavor and RP clashes with the gameplay...what to do?

I think the PrC is great for RP and is a very balanced in such a way that you can RP a magic-hating character, adventure, and possess the game mechanics to be on par with the rest of the characters.

Ok, so certain cliche scenarios in D&D will have problems with a Forsaker in the group, so what? Does that mean no one can ever play an all magic-hating character? Are all NPCs and characters forced to have some magic baubles on their person in order to be equal to the rest of the people?

So play a Barbarian or Fighter who hates magic and...you have a masterwork fullplate wearing, masterwork weapon wielding, no magic/psionic/incarnum/etc. wearing character who...well...won't get very far in the game.

Or play a Barbarian or Fighter magic-hater yet still carry around enough magic items to be somewhat equal to the rest of the group...even though you vowed a sacred oath to destroy all magic personally yet you walk around a huge hypocrite?!

Neither one makes sense. The Forsaker prestige class was the only way out (without resorting to turning into an exalted character, in which case you'll be shoehorned into a good alignment and wear scraps 24-7)

It's strangely unrealistic, even for D&D.

I believe the Occult Slayer in Complete Warrior is 3.5's nod to the Forsaker. You don't get ability power-ups, you can still use magic items, and you can still benefit from magic.

But a Spell Turning (Su) ability
A flat bonus on all saves against spells and SLA's
Double damage if you use a readied action to disrupt spellcasting
Immunity to (Mind-affecting) spells
Bonus on damage against spellcasters and SLA characters when you use your "favored weapon"

I like this class better than the Forsaker, as much as I love the forsaker. It's more elegant, and it has none of the drawbacks.
