Still playing Skyrim?

I fired up Skyrim on the PC last night and spent some time killing vampires, bandits and Thalmor soldiers. :)

Does anyone else still play?

I had been meaning to get back to it and build some content, but other projects keep getting in the way.

I started playing again with the release of Hearthfire.

Unfortunately, my spouse doesn't like my new houses and won't go with them -- which means my children are consigned to live in the lake house forever and get occasional visits from me. They tell me that my spouse visits them too, but I think it's just a story.

I finished the vampire addd-on in about 3 weekeneds.

Then I discovered minecraft on the xbox. I really haven't been back.

I checked out the hearthfire add-on. It seems like some kind of enticement to lure me back from the ability to fully manipulate my environmnent to making modular homes and bilk me of my hard earned septims.

I still hadn't actually chosen a side in the civil war. I like to think that I'm saving lives, as the killing doesn't really start until the PC gets involved.

I got the Dawnguard DLC and played through that, it was ok. I haven't gotten to Hearthfire yet, there are community mods that do similar things. I really enjoy the fact that creative individuals are kind enough to provide everyone (well, everyone who plays on a PC anyway) with pretty much endless options.

One of the things I've noticed about the community contributions, however, is that while there are some awesome monster additions, dragon improvements, weapon sets, new armors and cool spells - to name a few - the availability of really engaging quests is somewhat limited. I'm wondering if that's a limitation of the medium, or if in general people aren't interested in developing quests. While I appreciate Bethesda's design in using the AI to provide literally endless quests, the sameyness of the generated quests is kind of a let down.

But blasting my enemies with lightning from my fingertips? That just never gets old. :)

Yep, I just started back up again with Dawnguard. I started a new character and am playing through in a completely new (I was mage guy before, now sneak assassin). And I'd missed some of the quests on the side and am filling those in.

I've been playing Skyrim on and off since I bought -- currently, I'm off. The only major quest-line I've completed is the mage's college.

Skyrim alternately captivates and bores me. I'd kill for some Bioware-caliber direction and voice acting (then again, when I'm playing a Bioware game I'd kill for some Bethesda-style open environments to explore).

I'll probably keep nibbling away at Skyrim because the exploration element is so enjoyable. But there is literally no NPC worth conversing/running down a dialog tree with, and that makes the game as dramatic as laundry for me.

I agree completely with this. I'd love to play the game that's a merging of the best of both worlds, how awesome would that be? :)

Heh. I still haven't bought this. I probably should.

Do you use Steam? They have midweek madness sales that have good deals. In July I picked up Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas with all DLC for both games for a total of $15.

Skyrim is occasionally on sale there, I'm sure in a few weeks' time you'll be able to find it inexpensively.
