I was talking to a friend the other day and mentioned that I thought a great plot for an Indy movie would be Indy in 1945 Germany trying to recover the Spear of Destiny from the evil Communists who were trying to take it to Moscow as well as the Nazi SS men who were also trying to steal it from the Commies so they could smuggle it out to Argentina for eventual use in reestablishing the 4th Reich.

As long as some Nazis/former Nazis get killed, then I'll be happy . That's why RotLA and Crusade were better than ToD .

Or maybe go a different way, perhaps american enemies CIA or even the KGB, Italian Carabiniere or maybe the a sect of the Knights Templar or some Papal secret service due to the last movie.

well, what other famous historical artifacts remain to be found? Excalibur? hard to imagine an IJ movie taking place entirely in plain old England...

I think the chance of Nazi's in one form or another is pretty much 100% even if it's just a cameo of sorts.

Here's my nomination.

The seven cities of gold. Ties in with the Cross of Coronado. Since things are rarely as they appear in a IJ movies, the treasures of the lost cities of gold don't have to be gold necessarily and of course there doesn't have to be 7 of them either.

Yeah, something in south or central America (plenty of Aztec, Maya , or Inca ruins) would probably be great. As for the artifact to recover, I can't guess, but it could be something unknown (at least to us westerners) like as in the Doomed Temple.

I don't believe it would be the Spear of Destiny because it doesn't involve archeological ruins to explore.

Now for villains, I must admit that having Indy fight against the nazis did look good. And of course, there were some nazi refugees in south America. However remember that nazis had to search for archeological artifacts because Hitler required it. But now that the nazi Germany is dead (I really don't think they would make a plot where Hitler is in fact still alive), ex nazis don't have time to waste in searching for Inca ruins.

Unless of course they're looking for some ancient mystical weapon with which they can exact bloody revenge on the Allies! Don't forgaet that they're all nutters!

I'm also in the "This is never gunna get made" mode, we need less movies and more mini-series. Speilburg should revive the serial, make a bunch of say 80 minute short films in a row, maybe show 2 in a row (2 different serials), and release them say 2 or 3 times a year.

The theaters make thier money from the food anyway...so they could charge less for more movies, cause it would be a more regular business.

That is if theaters exist much longer.

Imagine going to see a 80 minute starwars film followed by a 80 minute indian jones flick...with a nice 20 minute break to go buy snacks.

This would be cool- different yet similar, and tie in the whole begining of Last Crusade and what got him started

I see more the spear aspect though as Daddy Jones' specialty is his religion. It may make a cool twist tying his specialty in somehow, or Sean Conner shows up for a cameo only.
