Stink in Ship's Towers

Kathan grumbles something about not wanting to become a " Morning snack for the children of the Devourer, " but appears to be ready to come along. He has a feeling, being the muscular one, that he will get stuck with rowing. Oh well.

" It be seemin' that my plan didn't work out to well, so I guess you can feel free to take the lead for a while, " he says. " The only thing that is bothering me is that lass thinking to offer us a meeting today. I'm not understanding the why of it, after we tried to paint the floor with her blood. "

"I'm sure she'd love to meet us again. With lots of heavily armed friends. Kathan, I don't think she wants a bottle of wine, a few oysters, and a kiss under the moon."

Kenn takes a moment to loosen his knives.

"And frankly, she's not good enough for you anyway. There are other fish in the sea, Kathan, and later in life you'll thank me for plugging your crush with a knife before she could break your heart."

Or at least, not be angry with me about it.

"Let's check out and go hunting for the Angleline. Umalapoap, how comfortable do you feel with hiding under the pier?"

Kathan raises an eyebrow and gives Kenn a sideways glance.

" I'm thinkin' you're mistaking my intentions, " he says. " I'd rather know what the game is, when I'm ready to play, than wait to be surprised later. "

"I don't think we have time to wait. We've burned a night already: we may be lucky if the Angeline's not left us on the dock twiddling our thumbs."
Kenn settles his coat on his shoulders.
"The faster we move, the harder the lady we met last night will have to work to find us."

'I think its best you guys go and do some research about his ship' 'seems to me like you have those abilities to make people talk' 'maybe some poor child or some worker at the pier may know more about this ship' 'it can be done swiftly as Kenn suggests'

"Then let's go." Kenn says firmly.
"We're burning tide. Umalapoap, are you comfortable taking care of yourself under that pier, or do you want Kuther for company?"

"I... think I'll be fine. I think. Thanks."

The group sets out to learn about the Angelina is currently anchored a bit downstream, and is scheduled to leave around noon. You hear that the captain, a certain Sarim Pepper, is an old veteran, and a very good captain for someone without the Mark of Storms. You guess that probably hire someone with a skiff to get you to the Angelina easily.

[sblock=Spot DC 16]You notice that you are being followed.[/sblock]

" I wish I'd had somethin' better to wash down that grub last night, " Kathan says, " Good food deserves good drink. "

[sblock=OOC/Bluff]
According to the bluff skill, I can deliver a simple secret message at DC 15, and since I can always take 10 my check is 16, as you know. Of course, the pursuer can try to detect the secret message, but that in another story. So, can both Kenn and Khuther check the information even if they fail their own rolls?

Untrained Spot check (1d20+2=8)

Khuther taps his foot as the others talks and gets some info about the Ship. Angelina pretty name for a ship with a foul smugling crew. This Eel seems quite dodgy and dangerous if he got a Captain of name on his pay list. Nah that dont make sense This Eel is working alone, maybe the captain would even help us to get a ratt. I guess we had to talk with the Captain himself before we try catch this guy.
I will tell the others that we probably should get one of us to talk with the captain at the bar or something, somewhere we could escape from if we blow it up.

He hears the splasing of Umalapoap under the pier getting distracted.

Kenn's spot check (1d20 +6=13)

Kenn looks about worriedly for a skiff, tryingf to calculate tides in his head and wishing he was a sailor.

Kenn's sense motive check (1d20+6=11)

"The absinthe wasn't half bad..." Kenn tosses over his shoulder, seeking out a skiff with ferocious intensity...

(Edited for revelation 11/30/2006)

Wait a minute...
(OOC: Good catch, all. I did pick up the message, but bluffed so well to hide my reaction I fooled the players and the judge. That's my story and I'm sticking to it :))

Kenn focuses just a little more on the here and now.
Great. Kathan's girlfriend is back.

He nonchalantly steps away from the other two to look at a particularly fine fish and get in a position to flank her when she does something vengeful or stupid.
