I just popped on the GC forums briefly and it looks like some people have just started to get their badges and tickets. I wouldn't worry yet...too much. Hehe.

No, to combat gamer-funk, this year the badges are in the shape of a Christmas tree and pine-scented.

So I didn't preregister, since I didn't think I was going, and now it looks like I might. How bad are the lines to buy them on-site usually?

Bad. Really bad. Hours of standing in line. And that's if the computers don't e-the-bed.

Multi-hour wait. Last time I was there it was 3-4 hours if you got there early. Later that day the line was 2x as long.

Depends on the day too. I walked through last year on Weds. at about 5:30 pm and the line looked to be only about 30 people long. (I've no idea if those were individuals or groups of course).

you're going to want to try to get a dealer/press/special guest badge or something if you can.

seriously though, depends on when you get there. if you wait until later in the afternoon, for example, it's a lot better than at noon.
