I've now got one of each of the huge rares! I just picked up the Eldritch Giant for $12 CAD and the Tundra Scout for $15 CAD. *happy dance*

Celestial badgers for the win!

One of my players is playing a conjurer. It's almost like he looks through my minis to see what I don't have any of. I believe last session, he did, indeed, summon a celestial badger.

My expanded WDQ set arrived today, with two stirges. They are better-looking than the pictures seem to imply. I got royally screwed by the customs and had to pay around $85 in import duties and VAT. Customs suck.

Since War of the Dragon Queen came out last month, eBay's had a non-stop run on stirges. They're now up to an average price of six bucks a pop. And that's not for a rare. We're talking an uncommon. A tiny uncommon that weighs like, what? A half-ounce? If that?

Well, you can blame all those who are buying them, or ebay sellers for charging too much, but had the DDM design team made the Stirge as common (as it SHOULD have been), then it would be much, much easier to get them.

Celestial badgers may not be great, but imagine getting the Wizened Elder Watcher as your rare.

twice...

"Well, we could have given you another dragon, but instead, we gave you this warped tree thing, have fun."

They explained why the stirge isn't common: It's a tiny, four-winged, miniatures with a clear-plastic socket that is probably a bitch to paint. It's too complicated to be a common.

The only thing that could have been done is to have waited until Blood Ear and release it there, so you'd be guaranteed to have 1.5 per case.

.

I understand that but...............
To be perfectly honest, I'm not concerned with their production issues. In this one regard, I'm the totally unreasonable consumer. The Stirge has been asked for by RPG'ers for a long time now. The designers claim they read the message boards and I believe them because I've seen them post on various forums so they knew about the demand for this figure. They either should have figured out how to make this thing a common or not released it until they figured out how to do that.

The Stirge NEEDED to be a common.
