Ordar listens to the report.
"I'd rather walk from Wormford. We will have easier time going unobserved and the ship can return and report to the bigger cities of approaching threat."
"Let's just get to that village and warn them. We can continue onward and they can prepare traps and defenses."

"Yes," nodded Aremus, "And we should be on the lookout for Chief Guh's spies, if she has any."

Aremus thanked the sad giant and assured her that they would seek her husband. Then he went with the others to the boat so they could catch up to the floating Casino.

Tranio asks for translations of the whole conversation, so he can be sure that they had just felt pity for the giantess. When he thinks he understands, he is impressed. Returning to the riverboat should be straightforward. And now they have a sense of the doom that lies before them.

Fistan

As soon as Fistan realises there is a giant he begins to chant a simple ritual that will allow him to understand the brute. It takes some time and he misses much of the conversation, so has to get the translation anyway.

"I agree that walking, or even riding from Womford is a better idea. The boat isn't really meant for long journeys and I woudl rather have terra firma beneath me if we run into any trouble."

"You humans! What's wrong with your own two feet? We will travel wild and through the forest, over stones and trying to be stealthy. Horses don't fit into that recipe well."
Ordrar impatiently berates his companions.
"You're worse than longears. At least they have sense enough to walk through the forest. Let's see if we can get a guide or at least good map in Wormford."

Grand Dame: The party makes it back to the boat and informs the crew of the situation. Not wanting to spend any more time around an emotional hill giant, Drylund orders a hasty exit. You are able to ride the rest of the way.

Wormford: A tiny village along the Iron Road was known as Ironford until shortly after a dragon was slain nearby. Passersby began to call the settlement Wyrm Ford-a name subsequently corrupted, thanks to the thick local accent, into Womford. The village has a dock on the Dessarin River for shipping grain from its gristmill. It's also the market and the source of supplies for the surrounding farms from which the grain comes. Aside from the mill, the village has a handful of granaries and a larger handful of cottages, several of which house tiny shops. West of the village is the Ironford Bridge, a long, narrow, ramshackle
wooden bridge that spans the Dessarin River and leads to Bargewright Inn, which looms atop a hill.

Dren is fine with the plan to move overland from Womford, grateful to be off the water. He agrees with Ordrar about the horses. Reaching Womford proved uneventful, and they got rooms for the night at the Bargewright Inn.
