D&D 5E Storm King's Thunder

"Does Ordar mean me?" Tranio asks himself, as he emerges from the crevasse and puts his foot on the bow dropped by the goblin.

He looks at the goblin, up on its perch, and once he has made eye contact he points to the main entrance (the wide entrance at the south, and speaks in common, slowly: "Go, now. Run far away. Don't come back until morning. Do you understand?" If he gets a nod, he will let the goblin run into the woods. Any other response, and he will fire on it.

Round 3

Dren eyed the one remaining goblin before he sheathed his axe and retrieved his dart. Just in case, he swept up the shortbow and quiver of arrows from the goblin he had just killed. It might come in handy.

Climbing safely down to the floor, Dren headed across the cavern for the tunnel the others indicated. “I dunnae ‘ear sounds o’ fightin’,” he said.

Tranio: The terrified goblin nods and bolts out of the cavern.

Fistan: The chieftain flinches at your magic, but then recovers his courage. "Shoot me and girl dies," he mocks. "You want villagers? One gold each. Fair," the goblin says greedily.

Ordrar: You walk in on a stand off. The lady in waiting,Daphne, is being held by a goblin with a dagger. The bones of Darthag, Nightstone's long serving merchant, lay on the ground by several giant rat corpses.

Aremus: You see the same scene as Ordrar, but notice a very familiar flying cat.

The cleric calls out to his comrades in the great cavern, and explains, "Death will come to it soon enough." His tone is apologetic, like perhaps he's let them down.

Then he points to the nook where he was hiding, "Lots of bones that way, but I thunk our companions are through here." He points to the west and starts heading that way.

"Bones!? Bones! You killed them all, goblin!" roars the dwarf
"You have nothing to negotiate with! Let the girl go and you walk away from this cave. You'll have time to make some distance before I return once she's safe!"
The dwarf gesturing wildly starting toward the goblin, big warhammer slamming this way and that.

OOC:
Question: Is the floor earth or stone (I think stone, it's a cave, but checking) - is there enough loose earth to create kind of depression behind the goblin, not full sized hole, just enough that if he steps back he steps into empty space and staggers for a moment.

NOTE
Mold Earth (somatic only)
If you target an area of loose earth, you can instantaneously excavate it, move it along the ground, and deposit it up to 5 feet away. This movement doesn’t have enough force to cause damage.

Options (assuming earth)
a) drop the woman in front of the goblin into the hole - dangerous, but he probably has no strength to hold her
b) drop him into the hole, but he may pull to woman after him

I was playing with coyote dice roller because I saw strange roll in one other game so I tried something similar:
_: 2D20.LOW(1)-2D6.HIGH(1)+3 = [15, 7]-[1, 5]+3 = -1 <- this should be 7-5+3 = 5
_: 1D20-1D6-3 = [1]-[4]-3 = 0 <- thi should be 1-4-3 = -6

Apparently once you put minus sign everything else is treated as if there were brackets () around it. Check the math with anything containing more than one set of dice - might be problem with inspiration dice that subtracts things

Dren walked up behind the others in time to hear the goblin’s demand. “‘ow many villagers are left?” he asked the creature. “‘ow much gold d’we need t’ purchase their freedom? ‘ow d’we know they’re even alive? Let the lass free an’ ye will get yer gold once we ‘ave the villagers. If ye want a ‘ostage, take me,” the unarmored dwarf said.

Fistan, Wizard 3

Regretting his choice of force to cow the goblin Fistan changes tack. With his companions pouring in from elsewhere in the caves he says with growing confidence, "Your own life, seems like a fair trade for theirs? Your warriors are dead or have deserted you. He was reluctant to let the goblin go with any gold at all, it would only be used to buy and arm another warband. "Leave now and we'll not act against you." He says with a much more silvered tongue than last time.
