D&D 5E Storm King's Thunder

Fistan

Fistan leaves the giant's library with reluctance. Most of the time he spends reading over the little magic that he could find. When their transport upriver turns out to be a rich mans pleasure boat, his mood turns somewhat more grey. He spends as little time as possible around the gambling tables. He isn't rude but this sort of thing is exactly what send him fleeing high society to embrace a life of study. It's hard to miss the fact that he "pays" for his ticket by dropping his family name, along with a promise, though.

Tranio: You would learn that octopus is named Oliver! They are no doubt Drylund's favorite animal as carving and paintings of them are all over the boat.

Ordrar: Drylund is caught off guard by your defiance, his eyes darting between his jeweled rapier and the woman in the green robe. You can tell your accusations angered him, but he was too cowardly to test you in battle. The former politician lets out a loud sigh of relief when the situation is diffused.

Dren: For keeping things from escalating, Drylund gives you a complimentary purse of 10 gooses / casino chips.

Fistan: The high society passengers are all fascinated by Rillax. They continue to pester you with questions and offers to buy him.

Next Morning: The debauchery is still going strong as the sun rises. However, the peace is shattered by a commotion from the shore. No one can see what made the sound, but it is a horrible noise, a deep, guttural, dirge pouring from the lips of something big and awful. The captain would then send a member of his crew to fetch the party, so that the next move can be planned.

"I am certain we can make sense of this strange occurrence, Captain." Aremus assured Drylund before gathering the group together. He then peered over the rail at the shore.

Carolina joins the others in their curiosity of the commotion. She might also look to see if any of the drunk gamblers are being careless in their attentiveness with their winnings. It's been a while since she's had any fun, after all.

Fistan

Fistan fends off the offers to buy his familiar, insisting that he is a companion and not just a pet.

In the morning Fistan arrives on deck to find some of the passengers speculating about the noise. Fistan quickly summons Rillix and sends the feline towards the noise. Keeping high in the air Rillix heads towards the noise and circles round, trying to spot the source.

"We won't see anything from here. We should go out there. Sounds like someone lost someone. Or something." Ordrar readies his combat gear and waits by the boat motioning the crew to lower it.

Tranio's expectations for the evening had been slightly frustrated -- he is confident that he learned nothing that his companions did not also learn, but he did get comfortable enough with Oliver, and was intrigued at how the creature could remain out of the seas for so long.

When the alarm is sounded, he excuses himself from Lord Drylund ("I'm going to go investigate that -- I'll see you again. Thank you for a fascinating time.") and makes his way first to the railings and then up to the foredeck.

Evening
Round 0

Dren looked at the gambling chips with surprise. “Much thanks.” He wasn’t sure what to do with them, never having gambled before, so he slipped them into his pocket.

The next morning, Dren was awakened in his cabin by one of the crew and brought to the captain. People crowded one side of the ship, looking at the short. Some horrible noise echoed from that direction. It seemed he wanted them to go check it out.

“Aye,” Dren said with a nod. He retrieved his gear from the cabin and headed for the boat Ordrar was already having lowered to the water for a run to shore. Dren shivered at the thought of going onto an even smaller, fragile vessel in that rushing water!

Aremus: You spot a crumbling tower atop a hill less than a quarter mile away. Parts of its conical roof and outer shell have fallen inward, leaving a gaping hole. The troubling noise appears to be coming from within this.

Fistan: Rillax too notices the tower, but is more focused on four hawks that circle it. He does not believe he can get a look at whats inside without alerting the birds.

Carolina: There are numerous distracted gamblers for your to pickpocket.

"Well, Captain" Aremus said to Drylund, "If you would lend us the use of a shore-boat and a few crewmen, we will go and investigate and hopefully be back in time for a mid-day meal. If we are successful, you may find an increase in drink sales this evening."

And then spotting a familiar face in the crowd Aremus called, "Bethany! It is very good to see you. Shall we go ashore and see what this ruckus is about?"
