Stormguard Warrior: how to describe it?

However, the next time the NPC tries to "tap" the PC could very well be within the same round, which would prohibit the PC from moving since it is not their turn.
Uh?

In the same round?

What are you talking about?

In case I wasn't clear enough, I meant: the feat can be used only once, since the following rounds the PC will simply move away in his turn after the NPC uses his touch attacks, wasting his full attack.
In fact, that is kind of a downside. To build up all that damage in 1 round, only to have (a) the opponent flee or (b) your allies drop them before you can get to them. Heh. I guess it would work well against a single BBEG who would normally take a few rounds to knock out.
That's my point.

Certainly, it's vastly unlikely that a PC will choose to let that combo get off on them a second time, *if* they can avoid it. Or any competent NPC, either.

There will be times that they can't, for whatever reason.

I don't consider it metagamey at all to move away to negate Stormguard Warrior, for suitably tough opponents. It's like a martial arts move; someone whose kung fu is good enough will recognise it for what it is, and how to defend against it. You could formalise it by requiring a Knowledge (martial lore) check, but I wouldn't bother, especially since any NPC/monster that was built before Bo9S won't have that skill available.

1) as I said earlier that's the downside of the feat, if there wasn't it would be too good.

2) As I said above, there are ways for the the guy with stormguard warrior to move and still get good use out of it (sudden leap, pouncing charge, wolf fang strike, diamond nightmare blade, snap kick etc.) or, like in our last session, someone else trips the opponent before he can move out of the way - making it that much harder for him. lots of options
