Strategy Help Needed (Torm please don't read)

Sneaking in and destroying all of they day's collected lumber would be really horrible for them on a financial level. Maybe even more so than just a loss in troops

Also, and this is a bit of stretch, you could try bribery. Mess with their stuff for a while and then offer them gold to decide that this forest isn't worth their time and they should o find a new one. Thayans backed in to a corner is never a pleasant thing to have to deal with.

Hm - has anyone mentioned the oldest tactic in the book? Attack the supply lines in both directions. These invaders wil have food coming in and wood going out. How much damage can an animated tree (or awakened beaver in the night) do to a wagon? How much time does it take to clear scattered logs from the road so it becmes passable again?

Fnork may have hit on a useful tactic here. Maybe the trick here is not to attack the soldiers, but to disrupt their operation. If they are levelling the place for profit, all you need to do to stop them is make it unprofitable. A few quiet Warp Wood spells on the wagon carrying the axes may be tactically more useful than ever engaging the enemy...

I'll voice my thoughts on 'spread the word " as well. There have to be others that want toe forest spared. I can't see druids standing idly by while a group of civilized people clearcut it. Fae that live in the area would be interested in saving it. Treants, Dryads,.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Thay is coming to clearcut the fortest. Who is Thay's enemy? Could you convince them to aid you if for no other reason to keep Thay from getting what they want?

You may not be able to completely destroy the army. Your goal is to cause enough damage that they see it as a losing venture. Target officers and leaders above all, but don't hesitate to take out outlying small groups. Disrupt their supply train. Taint their food and water. Nothing makes people more unhappy than a good case of the trots. Let a few rust monsters loose in their midst.

One of the big things about a venture like this is knowing what resources you have at hand. What is the makeup of your group? Do you have any favors that can be called in? What resources do you have at hand?
