Hmm? No, I'm saying exactly what Bauglir noted above.

The 10 Str dude RoE for a -9 penalty is 'the subject' of the Ray of Enfeeblement spell.

According to the text of the spell, one of the effects the spell has is that "The subject’s Strength score cannot drop below 1."

10 - 9 is 1. When the shadow attempts to drain him a single point, that would drop his Str score to zero - below 1 - but since he is 'the subject', and "the subject’s Strength score cannot drop below 1", his Str remains at 1.

A dozen shadows can all drain Strength from him, and as long as the duration of the RoE is in effect (and he is thus the subject of an RoE spell), his Strength score cannot drop below 1.
