i know what i is doing

:) :) :) :) miricles happen:) :)
This isn't the best of it, but that's coming from a really really iritable perfectionist who just learned how to make people see his art and is feeling self concious now that 6.7 billion people worldwide can now see his art and mock him:(

That's a rather creepy thought, but in case you didn't notice, my work is now here so now you can talk to me instead of scoffing the poor artist who can't use a computer to save his ethernet connection.

'Bout time!

Looks good! You should'nt be so hard on yourself.... I love the detail you did on the dude's outfit, and I wish my bows would come out looking like that.....I see I still have alot of practice on my hands, lol......Keep them coming!:p

Hey, I like it. The detail on the armour and bow are cool, and the previous wyrm-thing was nice. I'm a drawer of bows and wyrm-things too, so I can appreciate such things.

Here's my advice:

If you're not using one already, find a graphics pen and learn to emphasise key lines with it. If you are, then you need to adjust your scanner contrast and brightness; I found the pics a little fuzzy, to be frank, although I have much the same problem with my pen/pencil work.

Also, try adjusting the posture of your humans a little; the details are excellent, but the overall shape looks slightly unbalanced. Try positioning the feet further under the torso. As it currently stands, the guy would be slowly toppling backwards under his own weight. It's a VERY difficult thing to see, and it took me a while to spot, but if you sort it it'll tighten up your drawings no end.

As for fire, I haven't actually tried fire without CGing it. I guess you'd want the absolute minimum of work on it, especially in dark areas; you need the fire to be as white as possible. Also use consistent shadows and lighting to imply the fire's brightness in an area. Smoke and embers should probably be mere suggestions, although smoke will eventually thicken up.

Hope this helps!

Another thought

...Find a good mirror and set it where you can draw. There is no substitute for examining the real human form when drawing almost anything humanoid. Use the mirror to look at your own hands as others see them. Hands are hard to get right. Try holding a broom or other prop and see how hands and even entire posture are affected. Photo references are also good, if not quite as versitile as being able to look at yourself posing (models being the best but damn pricey).

I'll try that mirror thing. The stance issue I have already corrected. That picture is about 1.5 (sounds technical with the decimal) years old. I'm working out the bugs with the fire and the scanner problem wasn't my fault I had to pay like 8 bucks an hour to use the scanner so I couldn't afford to get it right.
Anyhow, I've started working with pen and ink now it's a really good medium for me and I think I can get alot more into the mood of what I'm trying to pull off. and I can get it all surreal looking and black and make funny flyaway lines and it still looks really cool, as if it was blurry or in a surreal world.

Cool, can't wait to see what you got in ink! Although, thats depressing that you gotta pay 8 bucks an hr to use a scanner! Almost better off picking up a scanner at 'Best Buy' for 50 bucks. I learned that a scanner is alot like a car stereo, they all have the same basic jobs, just the more expensive ones have more buttons and gadgets that are just cool not necessary.

50 bucks. I can afford that.
I just might have to look into that. Scanners are darn useful contraptions. My pen and ink stuff is kinda weird and some has been done mainly on notebook covers and envelopes and things that i can draw on at work (like desks) So its one of those things you really need to be there and see but i do most of my sci fi things in ink. ( I had this really cool campaign world I created with a fantasy-sci fi cross over 2 hour tv movie event of the century if you know what I mean and most of it was for that.)
I'm working on digital editing of my other stuff it might take a bit but I think it is well worth it. maybe tomarrow I can get this show on the road.

Well all you crazy kids out there, I have to do my job now so if a strange man asks you where the key to the underworld lies, kick him hard and use your +2 keen vorpal falchion with improved crit to wack him and tell him, "You're not my mommy!"
or the equivelent in normal folk terms.

It has been forever since I updated this and since no one is there listening I can finally scream my message to the world. My art is where I want it to be. If I can get my scanner hooked, up I can post on this thread again, but oh well. Sorry I haven't been here for a while but things came up, and now I have internet access again. So here I am and here I am. I have alot of pics I'd like to put out there and I don't think that I can be defined as a struggeling artist anymore, just an artist with a few problems.
All the stuff you have previously seen was from a long time ago, or so it seems to me.
Now I think that I can get more art on this thread. Let me work on that and we'll see what I can post.
Ciao
