So I'm on DC's 495 near the drawbridge between VA and MD. Seriously right now. And I'm in the driver's seat. It's 12:30 in the morning, and as I passed the Route 1 exit, a safety truck and state trooper pulled ahead 2 cars in front of me. The road had gradually been coned down to one lane. The safety truck goes about 2 miles an hour blocking off the lane, then stops before the drawbridge. The driver and the state trooper get out and tell us that they're going to recable something and that we'll have to just park and wait on the beltway for at least 25 minutes. There's no way to turn around, and there were no signs notifying a closure.
But apparently this spot on the beltway is home to about 20 wireless internet connections, and as I am on my way home from a D&D game, I have my lap top. So you, dear readers get live coverage as I sit in my car with my boyfriend and wait for them to recable an overpass. It's going to be an exciting time.
