Stun is Fun

I really, really like the idea of adding a "or save" to every condition duration. It leads to less "well, he's afflicted by X, but it's only until the end of the monsters next turn, so there is absolutely nothing we can do about it" and more "quick, we need to grant him a save ASAP!", which can only be good.

OP - death can actually be quite a bit of fun. A heroic, dramatic death that has some meaning in the context of the story can be very satisfying. See also I'll Hold Them Off!", "I'm taking those *********s with me", and "Tonight We Dine in Hell". Being killed by Random Kobold 32 isn't much fun, though - as you said - a necessary threat to make the game suspenseful. Also, if you're like me and grow bored of character concepts quickly, character death can mean a chance to play with shiny new toys.

Stun does none of these. It's still a necessary 'suck' to provide some motivation and a threat is only as good as the willingness to carry it through. Still, I like the 'stunned downgrades to dazed' concept. I might use it. Maybe.
