Suitable PrC for an illusionist?

The only one that I know of is the the Gnome Trickster. It can be found in Dragon Magazine Annual #5, pages 80-81.

It's not that great, IMHO, since it doesn't grant any spell progression. It does significantly increase the power of your illusions, though. It's mostly a PrC for Rogues with a few levels of Illusionist. He doesn't gain any more spellcasting abilities, but the ones that he has are greatly augmented and expanded, which tend to complement his Rogue abilities.

Most of the more generic Arcane prestige classes would probably also work fine for an Illusionist.

The only one I can think of is the Arcane Trickster. Not really, but a few rogue levels always goes nicely with an illusionist, and this is the PrC for that!

Although it doesn't focus on Illusions, I think the FateSpinner would be a good one to consider.

Other than the Necromancer, none of the specialists really do have defined PrCs. You could argue that the Evoker works well with Elemental Savant and the Diviner works well with LoreMaster, but there is nothing that uniquely ties those specialists with the PrC.
