Summon Monster SPells

Can they choose from ANY of these or do they have choose one? I would let a LG caster to summon Celestial and Axiomatic but not the other two "alignment" ones.

I tend to encourage people to summon creatures of like alignment, and point out that the spell changes to carry the alignment tendency of the creature summoned.

Can your guys summon any element or do they choose one and keep that always?

That all depends on the character concept, and whether or not the character specializes in a particular element.

Druids can summon any sort regardless.

The specific situation I am in now is that there is a LN Priest of Death wanting to apply these templates. The axiomatic is a perfect fit but I am having a hard time justifing the "elemental" templates. Maybe "cold" that has a lot to do with death.

That is especially easy to enforce/justify with a priest. It is easy to envision that gods with certain portfolios would only allow their clerics to summon creatures of a particular type.

Axiomatic, cold, & shadow would be excellent choices.

Where is the Shadow template? what alignment is that asscoiated with?

It is in the Manual of the Planes (page 190). Any alignment is possible, but creatures with the template tend to be of non-good alignment in general.

Easy Trenton.

I played a character named Arian. he was a technomage and even though i said he was summoning clockwerk beasts, i slapped the earth elemental template on all my creatures.

I then played in a Final Fantasy-esque campaign and my Caller (Summoner) slapped a fire template on a creature and called it Ifrit and said it resembled an ifrit (although it had creature powers), a cold template on a creature and called it shiva as well as saying it looked like a humanoid woman.

It all balances out
