Summoning device for a Sand Elemental?

The sand Elemental, described for 3e in Necropolis and Egyptian Gods.

I was trying to come up with a device for summoning a Sand Elemental parallel to the Stone of Earth Elemental Summoning.

One idea I had was a sand-filled hourglass. Any other ideas?

actually, a sand blasted/smothed stone.
or a small peice of quarts.

No way around the fact that a sand elemental is an earth elemental :-p
(well, maybe its an Earth/wind elemental)

You're originaly idea, an hourglass, sounds perfect.

I might go with the hourglass, but an hourglass symbolizes other stuff which has nothing to do with Sand Elementals so I'm looking for other ideas.

Seashell is not a bad idea, but I was thinking of more of a desert motif.

Sand Elemental summoning, hm? A piece of twised, misshapen glass, formed when the desert was struck by lightning. Due to a strange discoloration in the glass, it looks like there might be a face trapped inside, screaming for release.

I like the hourglass idea. Very nice.

A litterbox?

Sorry, nothing constructive to add.

Maybe something along the lines of a snowglobe, only with a desert or oasis scene inside. Or a globe with sand inside which continually swirls as if blown by a desert wind, and perhaps sometimes shows scenes or faces (to steal from RangerWickett's cool idea).
