Sun Blade question...

What are the rules for sundering a sun blade or when a sun blade tries to sunder another weapon? I guess what I mean is what is it considered for purposes of sunder? +2? +4 if they're evil?

Uh...

Off the cuff. it depends.

If the thing that is sundering the Sun Blade isn't evil, then it needs to be +2 or higher.

If the thing that is sundering* the Sun Blade is evil, then it needs to be +4 or higher.

"Thing", in the above two sentences, equals creature (if using a natural attack) or the weapon. Most weapons will not be evil, but I'd say unholy weapons and intelligent weapons with an evil alignment were.

This also depends on the Sun Blade's enhancement bonus. If your DM let you have one higher than a base +2, then read it as "Sun Blade's normal enhancement bonus" and "Sun Blade's normal enhancement bonus, +2".

ok, some more questions. what counts as a negative energy plane creature? is there somewhere I can see a list of them? I realize undead are fueled by negative energy. What else is? And if you look under the descrip. of the sun blade, it says the crit. multiplier is x3 on those creatures. Does that mean a sun blade can crit on undead?

The only Negative Energy Plane creature I can think of is the xeg-yi. I don't know of any others. I suppose one could whip out Manual of the Plane and say the inhabitants of the encounter table for the Negative Energy Plane are Negative Energy Creatures...but that's the xeg-yi and some undead. There'll be more, I hope.

Now, as for undead-critting...funny you should ask. Yes, and no. I actually asked the Sage about that. When you roll a critical threat, and confirm it, you apply the special property...which in this case, is 3x damage. You sort of crit, but technically you don't.

But you can't sneak attack undead with a sun blade. I asked. Darn it.
