Sunder an intelligent weapon

What happens if an intelligent weapon is successfully sundered and reduced to 0 hit points? Does it “die”? If the weapon is repaired, does the intelligent force come back or is it permanently “dead”?

I'd house rule that the weapon needs to be repaired and have Raise Dead or something cast upon it. Maybe it would lose a power or something with Raise Dead, while it wouldn't with True Resurrection or something.

Does something have to be alive to be sentient? If not, it doesn't die (instead it becomes inert), and repairing the sword restores sentience.

Otherwise, DM can deal with it however he sees fit.

I'd say it dies, and even if the weapon is repaired it takes a Wish or a Miracle to restore the life force.

Intelligent items can actually be considered creatures because they have Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma scores. Treat them as constructs.

I the last campaign I played in, we had an intelligent sword that was eventually sundered. The DM ruled that it died, which is how I'd rule as well.

R.I.P Malar. :(

Just hope the sundering is successful. Attempting to sunder it makes the item rather angry. I ran a high level game back in 2E and the wizard kept blasting an orb out of an enemies hands. When he finally got his hands on it, it said "I don't appreciate being shot". The player's jaw hit the floor and the character disappeared in a fiery blast. Hehe, there's nothing like scaring the player (as opposed to the character.) I've only done it three times in my many years of gaming.
