sunder vs. animated shield

im running Lord of the iron fortess
and one of my players has a animated shield
if i attack his shield would he get his str bonus
to the opposing att roll? or would he even get one?
animated says that it protects you, but no mention of bashing with it.

any thoughts

Ugh, good question. I would probably use the MM rules to create an Animated Object.... and use these stats instead of Sunder.

The animated shield says it works "as if wielded", and we simply treat it that way for simplicity. Use all of the character's stats regardless of whether or not the shield is actually wielded in hand.
