Superman's Flight?

IIRC the same basic explanation was used for Marvels' superman rip-off/homage Gladiator, from the Shiar imperial guard. He first appeared in 1977, the mental nature of his abilities were certainly spelt out in Dec 1982.

Cheers

Because I can't exp comment: Gladiator is Superior to Superman because he has purple skin, a mohawk and is the current emperor of the Shi'ar empire (Lilanda was assassinated).

Unlike superman, Sentry has been known to rip gods in half! (Poor Ares :( ). Seriously what's the use of having insane super strength if you can't or are unwilling to rip appart your enemies when you fight them to the death*?

* One grab, yank of the head, and kick towards the sun would have solved the Dooms Day issue after Reign of Supermen.

I think you all need to read A Unifed Theory of Superman's Powers.

Excerpt said:
It is our contention that all of Superman's abilities can be explained by supposing that Superman has the ability to alter His own inertia, and the inertia of objects with which He is in contact. While we have come up with no physical explanation for this singular supernatural power, or how it relates to the light of our Sun; we feel that unifying His abilities clarify the issue for future research. In this paper we will categorize His abilities and explain each power in turn; and then explain how Superman's conjectured power can be used to generate each effect.

Gladiator's powers fluctuate with his self-assuredness. So, he's lame.

Sentry ripping Ares in half, on-screen = one of the worst moments in mainstream comics in the past five years. (And Wonder Woman decapitated a god in her fourth issue, way back in 1987).

Yes, some bullets are still made with lead.

Yes, Teflon would shatter on a Daxxamite's chest.

Thus allowing the lead underneath the Teflon through. Remember that lead poisoning is always lethal to Daxamites (unless they get tossed into the Zone to save them for later)

And as to forgetting them...Daxxam had just as much Handwavium

Nope. Sorry. Lameite all the way. Lamite has the capability to mimic other substances, but the result is always less cool than the original. Thus the epidemic of sequelitis...

but would the Teflon first create a barrier so the Daxamite invulnerability could stop the bullet's momentum? Probably not, but it's a thought.

This is getting intense. I can't believe there's so much I DID NOT KNOW about Lameite! Tell us more, oh Guru!

New Coke failed, not because of the formula, but because they used Lameite in the bottles and cans to make them more recyclable.

Steven Segal is really a Lamite-induced clone of Chuck Norris.

There are some individuals in the world who are (or were) personally entirely immune to the effects of Lameite. Johnny Cash, for instance, is the only known man able to eat an entire bucket of lameite, and still cover NIN better than NIN could.

Isn't that a common weakness with all super heroes? I mean hell look how many feats are based on the super hero suddently being confident that he could do the feat or as a result of their wanting to save their self image in the face of failure.

Essentially making Gladiator become a manic depressive with self esteem issues is an interesting take on that trope.

It may be in your opinion, but I feel that it was on par if not slightly better then other moments marvel gave us during the same span of time.

(And Wonder Woman decapitated a god in her fourth issue, way back in 1987).
Hense why she is a badass.

Got to agree with Relique: Ares was way cool, but that art by Coipiel is amazing. What a shocker! Seige wasn't as great as the artist, though it had some awesome moments and I like the writers. That's more the thing of it for me.

My biggest qualm was with the art, specifically the choice of putting the gore upfront, when it could've been seen from behind Sentry for the same effect.
